Shed Their Fear
Yael Meyer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As I walk above the pavement, I can feel you walking with me carrying me
And I hear above the silence all these voices screaming loudly at my ear
Shed their fear
Shed their fear on me
Living in a world of lies is not amongst the holy sites I site from here
Grant me strength to dissipate the dark that haunts and pierces deeply like a spear
Shed their fear
Shed their fear on me
As I walk above the pavement, I can feel you walking with me carrying me

And I hear above the silence all these voices screaming loudly at my ear

Overall Meaning

Yael Meyer's song "Shed Their Fear" is a soul-stirring track about seeking strength against the dark that surrounds us. As the song begins with "As I walk above the pavement, I can feel you walking with me carrying me," the artist makes a reference to a divine force that she relies on for strength, someone who carries her through the toughest times. The next lines, "And I hear above the silence all these voices screaming loudly at my ear/Shed their fear, Shed their fear on me" are about the various negative thoughts and fear that haunt her, which she wants to shed. The plea for help to shed fear resonates with the sentiments of wanting to be hopeful and asking for a higher power to intervene.

Living in a world of lies and deceit is not among the holy places that the artist sees from where she stands. She thus seeks courage and strength to help dissipate that dark energy that pierces deeply like a spear. The artist repeats the chorus asking them to "Shed their fear on me," as she walks above the pavement, and she feels the divine force walking and carrying her. The lyrics of the song have a very positive attitude, inspiring the listener to seek help and rely on the higher power, urging the listener not to give up and to walk with faith and hope.
