Fire Emblem Awakening was my introduction to the series, and when I first played it I loved it. I was super hyped for Fates, and when it finally arrived it was.. meh, I guess. Gameplay wise it's really cool. The maps are cleverly designed, and feels very dynamic. However, its characters were so "gimmicky" and stereotypical it hurts. Thankfully, Echoes arrived and washed away the bad aftertaste that Fates left. Echoes is so far my favorite FE. It may not provide maps as good as in Fates, but instead it has really good story and just as good characters. It also has dungeons, making it a dungeon crawler strategy role-playing game, and thus also a very unique game.

It seems like the next FE is heading to Switch, and I kinda hope they mixes Echoes with Fates. Dungeons in cool HD graphics as well as challenging and memorable maps together with an interesting cast of characters and a good story would be a dream come true. Though I think they should prioritize characters and story over gameplay actually, just like they did in Echoes.

All and all, Echoes is a really good game. It will be very interesting to see the future of FE, and hopefully, they continue in the tracks of Echoes.
