Its most famous version is the American 12-inch remix by François Kevorkian. This version was included on the U.S. version of Yazoo's album Upstairs at Eric's, and is the version of the song which receives the most radio airplay in the United States (where the song, despite its modest showing on the Hot 100, is still played on alternative, variety-hits, and dance-oriented radio stations).
It was covered by welsh singer Tom Jones in 1994 on his album The Lead and How To Swing It.
The song was featured in the 2002 film The Rules of Attraction.
In 1990 and again in 1999, the song was remixed by various noted DJs, including Peter Rauhofer and Richard "Humpty" Vission. The 1999 remixes were released to dance clubs, and this renewed interest in the song sent "Situation" to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for a second time in October of that year.

Yaz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Moving through the doorway of a nation
Pick me up and shake the doubt
Baby I can't do without
[Chorus:]
Move out, don't mess around
Move out, you bring me down
Don't make a sound just move out
I remember only for an hour
Move right through me can you feel the power
I don't know what's going on
It scares me but it won't take long
[Chorus]
Now he's in control he is my lover
Nations stand against him he's your brother
Been a long time, been a long time now
I'll get to you somehow
[Chorus]
The lyrics of Yaz's song "Situation" revolve around the theme of leaving behind negative influences and moving forward towards a better future. The opening lines, "Blue-eyed dressed for every situation, moving through the doorway of a nation," suggest that the singer is confident and ready to take on any challenge. The next two lines, "Pick me up and shake the doubt, baby I can't do without," indicate that while the singer may be confident, they also need someone else to believe in them and support them.
The chorus of the song, "Move out, don't mess around, move out, you bring me down," is a call to action for the singer to leave behind anyone or anything that is holding them back. The line "how you get about, don't make a sound just move out" serves as a reminder to be discreet and not draw attention to oneself while making major life changes. The second verse, "I remember only for an hour, move right through me can you feel the power, I don't know what's going on, it scares me but it won't take long," suggests that the singer is unsure of their path but is still determined to move forward and make changes.
