Yazoo were formed in early 1982 by former Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke (synthesizers) and English singer Alison Moyet (vocals) and signed to Mute Records in the United Kingdom.
Their debut single "Only You" was released on 15 March 1982 and rose to number 2 on the UK charts. They also released two studio albums: Upstairs at Eric's in 1982 and You and Me Both in 1983.
Shortly after the release of the second album, Moyet and Clarke decided to break up. Moyet pursued a solo career while Clarke first founded (the short lived) The Assembly followed by the successful Erasure.
Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet briefly reunited in 2008 and toured Europe and the United States as Yazoo for the first time in twenty-five years. Also in 2008, their record company issued a 4-disc box set called In Your Room; containing remastered editions of both of their original albums, a disc of b-sides and remixes (imaginitively titled B-Sides and Remixes) and a DVD containing promotional videos, interviews etc.

There will always be, because
There will always be, for two
There will always
Inside you can feel th-
Outside you can see the difference
Inside, stop, inside, difference
Outside, out stop, inside you can feel the difference
Feel the
You can difference, difference, difference
You can see the, feel the difference
You can stop, stop, and see the, you can stop, you can see the difference
Dragons, the policman knew,
Were supposed to breathe, to breath fire, fire, to breathe fire
And occasionally get themseleves, get themseleves
Slaughtered, slaughtered, slaughtered
He decided.
That would definitely not be decided
Stop, stop
Definitely not
Stop, stop
Not
Definitely
That would that would that would
Stop
Definitely decided
Decided decided decided
Not not
He decided [Repeat]
OK - that's the first one. someone do the old lady now...
The lyrics in Yazoo's song "I Before E Except After C" seem to be a bit nonsensical upon first listen, but upon closer examination, one can interpret a deeper meaning. The phrase "I Before E Except After C" is a common mnemonic rule taught to schoolchildren to help them remember how to spell certain words. The song starts off with the repetition of "there will always be because", which can be interpreted as a statement about the inevitability of certain things in life. No matter how we try to control things, there will always be certain factors that are outside of our control.
The next part of the song talks about the difference between what we feel inside ourselves and what we present to the world outside. The singer encourages the listener to notice the difference and stop to acknowledge it. The chorus repeats the phrase "feel the difference" over and over again, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and acknowledging our inner selves.
The final part of the song seems to be a random and nonsensical series of phrases, but it can be interpreted as a commentary on societal pressure to conform to certain expectations. The policeman in the song knows that dragons are supposed to breathe fire, and occasionally get slaughtered. He then decides that he won't conform to these expectations and will do something different - something that is not definitively decided, but is still a decision. This can be seen as a call to action for listeners to break out of societal norms and expectations and do things their own way.

@@Upstreamprovider I know that when I was on 10 grams of Mazatepic strain mushrooms, I was in so deep that music was irrelevant once I hit peak.
I was starring at the blue sky while laying in my backyard and the stars and stripes appeared in full color with A bald eagle next to it, that was
extremely powerful.
there was an entity that was saying that America is The serpent.
I was fighting with this thing telling it that America is a beautiful idea and it shall not be destroyed.
A quote that came out of that trip was......
"The serpent dances upon the foundation of fools."
That quote was based on a drawing of a clown standing upon the foundation of the zombies wandering aimlessly banging their heads upon brick walls.
I actually saw dragons ripping humans apart and the skulls of the dead forming this foundation.
I just let my hand go, let it flow.
It became too intense and I had to walk away.
I went outside to breathe fresh air, as I layed on the ground again,
I could feel a presence,
I started to speak and it was with a Russian accent, I even started to hum a tune.
I went into the house spoke to my wife and she recorded me as I was speaking,
I couldn't stop with the accent.... eventually it subsided.
I could speak for awhile and then the wave hit and I was out to lunch again. The visuals of entities appeared again, this time it was a Gorgon sticking his tongue out, everything was in liquid gold with Pyramids blending and flowing.
I also had this feeling of the sum of the multiples are me.......
In 2020 I had 5 trips and none of them were under 5 grams.
@DieselDriven
I was hazed to this music, it will always hold a special place in my heart

I didn't do drugs as a teen so cranking up the headphones as I lay in bed in the dark and listening to this was my freaky moment.
@ralphralpherson9441
Well we DID do drugs, lots of them, and it only made this WAY WAY WEIRDER. When that bass pulse kicked in my body actually jumped out of fright.
@segafantasia
i remember this .... played it at a birthday party lol ... and everyone just stopped and went silent .... oh the good day's ....

Assuming there was something more involved too maybe 😂
@madwilliamflint
I did this in a lip sync contest in high school back in 86. Got a standing ovation, but it was too weird for the judges.
@haileysvomit
fair play to you for doing that, i bet it was awesome as it goes, brilliant
@teeth6556
haileysvomit yes that takes balls to do in front of an audience. Check out my version I recently made. It's on my channel. I need to redo it without the sunglasses and in a way that it is clear I am not reading the words and that it is from memory
@teddyyyyy6100
Woah. This song is impossible
@SilverishKitten
I really hope this is true xD That's just too funny.
