Yazoo were formed in early 1982 by former Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke (synthesizers) and English singer Alison Moyet (vocals) and signed to Mute Records in the United Kingdom.
Their debut single "Only You" was released on 15 March 1982 and rose to number 2 on the UK charts. They also released two studio albums: Upstairs at Eric's in 1982 and You and Me Both in 1983.
Shortly after the release of the second album, Moyet and Clarke decided to break up. Moyet pursued a solo career while Clarke first founded (the short lived) The Assembly followed by the successful Erasure.
Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet briefly reunited in 2008 and toured Europe and the United States as Yazoo for the first time in twenty-five years. Also in 2008, their record company issued a 4-disc box set called In Your Room; containing remastered editions of both of their original albums, a disc of b-sides and remixes (imaginitively titled B-Sides and Remixes) and a DVD containing promotional videos, interviews etc.

Walk Away from Love
Yazoo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've made my mind up not to stay
And it don't matter what you do
'cause me, I've had enough of you.
And you can talk about the good times
I can just remember bad times.
There ain't nothing left for saying
'cause there's no way that I'll be staying
You tell me to remember
When I told you that I'd never walk away
[Chorus:]
Hey baby, don't walk away from love
Tell me baby, ain't my love enough,
Listen to the things I say
And tell me why do you walk away from love?
Leave you standing on your own
It's time I spent some time alone
Need a while to think this out
Not sure what it's all about.
And it's no use to sit there crying
'cause I can see you're only lying.
Now I'll put the past behind me
Run some place where you can't find me.
You tell me to remember
When I told you that I'd never walk away.
[Chorus]
Bags are packed, I just can't wait.
Gotta get out before it gets too late,
I don't need you any more
And I don't need your love for sure.
And you can talk about the good times
I can just remember bad times.
There ain't nothing left for saying
'cause there no way that I'll be staying
You tell me to remember when I told you that I'd never walk away.
[Chorus]
Don't walk away from love
The lyrics to Yazoo's song "Walk Away from Love" tell the story of someone who has made up their mind to leave a relationship. The singer feels that they have had enough and there is nothing left to say. The other person tries to remind them of the good times and of when they promised never to walk away, but the singer is resolute in their decision. They see the other person's tears as lies, and feel the need to get away before it's too late, packing their bags and leaving. The chorus contains the plea for the other person not to walk away from love and asks why their love is not enough.
The lyrics seem to be about a breakup, but there is a sense of finality and closure to them. The singer has made their decision and it seems unlikely they will change their mind. The repeated mention of bad times and the dismissal of good ones suggests that the relationship has been troubled for some time. The chorus's plea not to walk away from love could be seen as a self-reminder, a way for the singer to hold onto the belief that love is valuable and worth striving for, even if this particular relationship wasn't.
