Years Years Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know how it led to this
I felt a tremor in your kiss
Earth shakes, and I answer it, my body realigns
It's too much, I cannot handle this
I taste, the pleasure on your lips
You make, planets start to spin I'm ready to ignite

Let me feel your devotion
Let me feel your emotion
Love me like it's the last night
Like it's the last night

Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite
Don't let me go, don't let me go

You've been, following the rush
I've sinned, but I keep it hush
You're near, but it's not enough, I need this to survive
Reckless, what I'm heading for
Lights flash, and I hear a roar
One touch and you're so powerful, you're burning through the night

Let me feel your devotion (devotion)
Let me feel your emotion (emotion)
Love me like it's the last night
Like it's the last night

Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite
Don't let me go, don't let me go
I can feel it coming tonight
Don't let me go, don't let me go

Our path turned to stone, everything's falling
In silver and gold, colours are warning
And I see it, gold, when I look to the sky
I want it all tonight, I want it all tonight

Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite, oh
Hit me like a meteorite
Don't let me go, don't let me go

I can feel it coming tonight
Don't let me go, don't let me go

Overall Meaning

The song Meteorite by Years & Years talks about taking risks and falling for someone hard. The song starts with the singer expressing uncertainty about how they got to this point, where they feel a tremor in the person's kiss, and their body realigns. The intensity of the moment is almost too much for them to handle, but at the same time, they crave more of the pleasure they feel on the person's lips. The chemistry is undeniable as the person makes the planets start to spin, and the singer is ready to ignite.

The chorus of the song asks the person to hit them like a meteorite, not to let them go, and to love them like it's the last night. The singer wants to feel the person's devotion and emotion and taste the sweetness of it all. The second verse shows that the person has been following the rush, and the singer has sinned but keeps it a hush. Although the person is near, it's not enough, and the singer needs the intensity to survive. One touch can make the person so powerful that they burn through the night.

The bridge of the song talks about everything turning to stone and falling, but the colors are warning, and the singer wants it all tonight. The song is about taking a chance on love, not holding back, and experiencing the passion and intensity of the moment. The lyrics are poetic and evocative, painting vivid pictures of the singer's emotions and desires.

lianna mkoyan

@ashley the vengeboy he meant that people should be never afraid of showing their true selves even if sometimes can be weird, stupid or gross for others

ashley the vengeboy

@lianna mkoyan i see she was referring exactly to the guy singing on here and you added all of the adjectives he lured to your mind by your personal expectations of what she was referring to. its not weird anymore to be flamboyant guys you can buy everything on cheap internet sales how does it sound?

He just doesn't care about social constructs... does he...? I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! He's so brave and fearless to express himself how he wants to and I hope we can reach a point in time when everyone feels the same confidence! <3

Danny Neyman ok I'm gay but come on this is waaaay to much gay'ness please.... We get it, calm down

Nameless

Where do I begin with how factually incorrect you are?

Hmm... Well for starters, wearing a sparkling dress does not address the "gayness" of a man. It simply represents that he is not willing to conform to social gender constructs that say only a woman should be wearing one.

Secondly, way too much gayness? Wearing a dress doesn't mean you're more or less gay than someone else. As a bisexual, I hear similar assumptions made about me and people of my sexual orientation based on who we date. If I date a guy or girl, it doesn't make me more or less of a bisexual, it just means that I've chosen a person of a certain gender for my partner. The same can be said here. Wearing dresses, putting on make up, etc. does not make one more or less gay. It just represents who you are as a person. Does this imply that masculine gay guys are somehow to be considered less gay than feminine ones?

Finally, just because you're gay, doesn't mean it's ok to bash on other gay guys for how they express themselves. Everyone entitled to do whatever they want. It doesn't matter what they wear, we're all a part of the same community and should love, accept and support each other how we are.
