Yeasayer released their second studio album, Odd Blood, in February 2010, featuring more pop music influences than earlier work. The band revealed that the album came out of a massive acid trip in New Zealand. Peter Gabriel’s drummer Jerry Marotta helped to record Odd Blood in an upstate New York studio packed with rare synths and percussion instruments from around the globe to create the characteristic worldbeat sound of the album.
Yeasayer released their third studio album, Fragrant World, in August 2012. According to the Fingers Never Bleed Songfacts, it was named after a track that didn't make the new album's final cut.
Yeasayer officially announced its dissolution on December 19, 2019.

Yeasayer Lyrics

And I get old and I get humble
The sky cracked a million ways
Making me blind
And as the trees grew higher and higher
And the fish began to fly
I went and stole some wings
And thought why can't I
Get in the sunrise
I want to get in the sunrise
Put the world upon your shoulder
I'll stay young while I watch everyone getting older
You can take a million years
Out of my head
But I'm starting to lose my place
In the circles that I trace
And if I let go only then
Will my face
Get in the sunrise
I want to get in the sunrise
(Do you hear me now
Oh won't you hear me now)
The lyrics to Yeasayer's "Sunrise" appear to explore themes of aging, humility, and the pursuit of something greater or transcendent. The first verse begins with a stumble, which could be interpreted as a representation of human vulnerability and fallibility. As the singer gets older and more humble, they begin to see the world in a new way, with the sky cracking and the trees growing higher. These surreal and impossible images suggest a desire for something beyond the mundane or ordinary, a yearning for transcendence.
The second verse builds on these themes, with the singer suggesting that by putting the world on their shoulder, they can stay young while others age. However, as time passes, the singer begins to lose their sense of place in the world, and they must let go in order to truly join the sunrise. The repeated refrain of "I want to get in the sunrise" reinforces this idea of a transcendent experience that the singer is seeking, an escape from the limitations of mortality and time.
Overall, "Sunrise" presents complex and poetic ideas through dreamlike, surrealist imagery. The lyrics suggest a longing for a higher truth or experience, but also acknowledge the limits of human understanding and the inevitability of aging and change.

LYRICS:
I'm always ready for a war again
Go down that road again
It's all the same
I'm always ready to take a life again
You know I'll ride again
It's all the same (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Tell me who's gon' save me from myself
When this life is all I know
Tell me who's gon' save me from this hell
Without you, I'm all alone
Who gon' pray for me?
Take my pain for me?
Save my soul for me?
'Cause I'm alone, you see
If I'm gon' die for you
If I'm gon' kill for you
Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
I fight the world, I fight you, I fight myself
I fight God, just tell me how many burdens left
I fight pain and hurricanes, today I wept
I'm tryna fight back tears, flood on my doorsteps
Life a livin' hell, puddles of blood in the streets
Shooters on top of the building, government aid ain't relief
Earthquake, the body drop, the ground breaks
The poor run with smoke lungs and Scarface
Who need a hero? (hero)
You need a hero, look in the mirror, there go your hero
Who on the front lines at ground zero? (hero)
My heart don't skip a beat, even when hard times bumps the needle
Mass destruction and mass corruption
The souls are sufferin' men
Clutchin' on deaf ears again, rapture is comin'
It's all prophecy and if I gotta be sacrificed for the greater good, then that's what it gotta be
Who gon' pray for me?
Take my pain for me?
Save my soul for me?
'Cause I'm alone, you see
If I'm gon' die for you
If I'm gon' kill for you
Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Hey, hey
Who gon' pray for me?
Take my pain for me?
Save my soul for me?
'Cause I'm alone, you see
If I'm gon' die for you
If I'm gon' kill for you
Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
Just in case my faith go
I live by my own law
I live by my own law
I live by my own
Just in case my faith go
I live by my own law
I live by my own law
I live by my own
Oh wait, wrong song

@username From the lawsuit document:
20. Defendants extracted Plaintiffs’ choral performance from a recording of“Sunrise,” slightly modified it, including, on information and belief, via postprocessing to alter its pitch, among other qualities, and then inserted themodified audio material into “Pray for Me.” The material copied from “Sunrise” isa material and substantial portion of “Pray for Me.”
21. Defendants processed and created an unauthorized derivative work fromPlaintiffs’ original “Sunrise” recording by transposing the material, keeping thesame number of voices in the same configuration, brightening the material, andtemporarily condensing the copied portion while generally retaining the original’s pulsing vibrato.
tl;dr they're suing for using the audio and altering it with pitch shifting and frequency shaping

If Yeasayer wins, the music industry is doomed. Nobody can write songs again without getting copyright issues. Come on. What a joke
JUNE GUTS
that's always been the case. copyright is a system that mainly benefits the wealthy and can only stifle art

Thank you Yeasayer for allowing "Entourage" to play this at the end of one of their episodes. It literally changed my life...and saved another's.
