Duro duro oh
Duro duro oh
It's a heartfelt story
Me and my boo me and my boo
I tell you say i no wan do
But you already know deep down
That i do i do
When you call me baby
I say i no want
When i call you daddy
You say you no want
Just because i'm facing my music
Like i send nobody whoaa
But you know deep down in there
There aint no one that can compare
Why you wanna leave me alone…
Baby duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Cos i love you
Duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Timi eey
The other day
I felt so weak (weak uhn)
The only thing that could save me was a miracle
And that was you (that was you)
Now i call you daddy
You say you no want
And you call me baby
I say i no want
Just because i'm facing my music
Like i send nobody whoaa

But you know deep down in there
There aint no one that can compare
Why you wanna leave me alone
Baby duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Cos i love you
Duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Timi eey
Ooh my days ain't the same
My night aint the same
My life feels so empty since the day that you walked away
No gravity can hold me
Nothing can stop the chemistry
No oh, Dont walk away
Why you wanna run away
Tell me why you wanna run away
Why you wanna run away
Tell me why you wanna run away
Dont you know that you are all i gat
Why you wanna run away
Dont you know that you are all i gat
Baby duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Cos i love you
Duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Timi eey
Baby duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi
Cos i love you
Duro timi oh
Duro timi oh
Duro timi

Timi eey
Oh duro duro

Overall Meaning

The song 'Duro Timi' by Yemi Alade is a love song that describes the emotional tug-of-war between two lovers who are trying to navigate their way through the ups and downs of their relationship. The song title 'Duro Timi' means 'Stay with Me' in Yoruba, one of the major languages in Nigeria.

In the beginning, the female protagonist expresses her reluctance to pursue a romantic relationship with her lover, even though deep down, she knows she wants to be with him. The chorus is a plea to her lover to stay with her and love her, despite their differences and struggles. The female protagonist recounts a time when she felt weak and the only thing that could save her was her lover, but now he seems to want to leave her alone. She laments the changes in her life since he left and begs him to return to her.

Throughout the song, the male protagonist hesitates to commit fully to the relationship, but the female protagonist knows that there is no one who can compare to him. They both struggle with their feelings and the challenges of maintaining a relationship in the music industry. Ultimately, the song expresses a desire for love and understanding, and a plea for the two lovers to stay together and support each other through the highs and lows of life.

I Love the fact that this sounds like R&B while still maintaining the African flavor. I think that some people feel that African songs have to be fast all the time to get people to dance, but with this Yemi has shown that she is strong when it comes to getting people to dance and when it comes to pulling at their emotions. Love the song and love the Video!!!😍😘👍🏾

Anayah Harris. Its so sad when I hear Americans make such patronizing statements. " her English is getting good". The advantage Africans have is the option to choose what language we prefer to deliver our message. We are not limited to one language. Majority of us speak perfect English and are highly educated. ( having an accent does not equate to poor dialect or grammar). I really wish that most of you are privileged to experience the liberation that comes with being multi- lingual.
