Sequoia Trees
Ykons Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Through my leaves
You are here with me
Turning my wishes into dreams
I can't hear your voice
Anymore
It's getting blurry
I'm a believer
You're a great a liar
It's starting to show
You will sure suffer
As you come closer and the world knows
Beeing searching it for so long
The mighty liar
Painted in gold
The sun lights up
And makes me fly
Over sequoia trees
The rain draws a path to the East
I don't hear your voice anymore
You're too far indeed
Joy is being sucked away from me
I'm a believer
You're a great a liar
It's starting to show
You will sure suffer
As you come closer and the world knows
Beeing searching it for so long
The mighty liar
Painted in gold
Don't believe in
The Liar
Painted in Gold
I'm a believer
You're a great a liar
It's starting to show
And you will suffer
When the whole world knows
What you're up to
I'm a believer
You're a great a liar
It's starting to show
You will sure suffer
As you come closer and the world knows
Beeing searching it for so long
The mighty liar
Painted in gold
I'm a believer
I'm a believer
I'm a believer
You're a great a liar
Painted in gold
The lyrics of Ykons's song "Sequoia Trees" explores themes of betrayal, disillusionment, and the weight of secrets. The first verse describes the presence of a person in the singer's life who made their wishes into dreams - this person is represented as a shining star, a powerful figure. However, in the second verse, the singer notes that they can no longer hear their voice and that their previous clarity is becoming blurry - this suggests that this person has betrayed the singer, and their trust is broken. In the chorus, the singer asserts that they are a believer while the other person is a great liar, acknowledging the weight of the secrets that have been kept.
The chorus repeats several times throughout the song, with slight variations in the final verse. The final lines suggest that the liar has been painted in gold and that the weight of their deception will ultimately lead to their downfall. The song is punctuated by descriptions of natural phenomena - stars, rain, the sun - which, when combined with the mention of sequoia trees, suggest that the singer is outside, perhaps in a forest. These natural elements create a sense of growth and movement throughout the song, contrasting with the collapsing relationship described in the lyrics.
