the Danish National Orchestra is doing an awfully good job with this. It's hidden because the video including this is only titled "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" - not noting that they play as second piece Exstasy of Gold.

Maybe versatility is the mark of great music. This piece sounds great played by Yo Yo Ma, Metallica, by the man himself, on the original soundtrack, and by other serious musicians. Different readings, all magnificent. Is that genius? I think so.

Morricone had such a deft touch with melody. Makes me think of Tchaikovsky and his ability to captivate you immediately without being pretentious or overly showy. There’s a lot of love for music itself.

Edit - I should add Yo-Yo Ma brings a lot of the same to most of his performances. Music comes first and he makes you feel v welcome in the wonderful world of music. Most of his performances are the equivalent of “come listen to this - I like it and I think you will too”

Its from the Good, The Bad and The Ugly, one of the final scenes in the movie where Tuco comes across the vast war cemetery. It's an epic scene. The music matches the scene perfectly. The Mexican Standoff possibly refers to the previous movie, For a Few Dollars More, which is also an epic scene where the music works to perfection.

The composer of the music for Wild Arms, Michiko Naruke, specifically said in an interview that she borrowed themes from spaghetti westerns, and she holds a great deal of respect for Ennio Morricone. She wanted to pay homage to his work, and you can clearly hear it in the game.

Ennio's spaghetti western film scores are absolutely underrated. Many of the pieces he wrote for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly soundtrack are so magnificent that they alone, in my opinion, set him with Bach, Beethoven and the like.

This was Yo Yo Ma's interpretation of what I sang on tape for Maestro Ennio as both warm-up vocal exercise and orienting exposition for the changes I was introducing to his 1966 version in April 25 ,1987. After this cello version I was able to deliver full blast female falsetto with backing male vocals as heard in the movie remastered 2003,and as heard opening for Metallica.I was age 29,4-track,tascam,using my voice also to introduce the instrumental changes,like a one-man band.

for some reason Yo-Yo Ma's version of this soundtrack reminds me of other movies then just the western. some parts sounds like a scene from a mob movie situated in little italy whilst other parts have an almost asian sound reminding me of "house of flying daggers" Awesome work of art, no matter how you listen to it...

True xxpattsxx, but keeping that it mind, lines like "i've got 99 problems, but a b*tch aint one", "thats my girlfriend screaming in the trunk", "from the window to the wall, all them....", lines like that aren't about unity, there's about dominance. early rap and hiphop was innovative. any potential for music rap had died with tupac a little over 10 years ago.
