Starlight

Trying hard to deny it
I've been thinkin' 'bout how it's gonna go down
Go down
Spent a lifetime without it
Trying hard not to even think about it
I listen alone but I don't hear a sound
Because in my mind I'm seeing starlight
One more time for my imagination
I'm not high, don't let me be misunderstood
Ah-ah-ah
I've been thinkin' 'bout your kissin'
Lord knows what I've been missin'
You're the only who could put me in such a state
A state
Never take your love for granted
I've been waiting on you just like we planned it
Taking your time, I'll sip my wine while I wait
Don't be late
Because in my mind I'm seeing starlight
One more time for my imagination
I'm not high, don't let me be misunderstood
Like we should
I've been trying to hide it
Trying hard to deny it
I've been thinkin' 'bout how it's gonna go down
Go down
Because in my mind I'm seeing starlight
One more time for my imagination
I'm not high, don't let me be misunderstood
Because in my mind we are together
All the time, even the cloudy weather
Ain't gonna come forward 'cause we just wanna feel good
Like we should
Like we should
In Yola's song "Starlight," the singer of the song is trying hard to deny their true feelings towards someone they have a deep connection with. They have tried to spend their entire life without it and not even think about it. However, they have been thinking about the person's kiss and how it's going to go down. The singer is waiting for the person they love to arrive, sipping their wine while waiting for them, advising them not to be late. In the singer's mind, they see "starlight," which represents their imagination, and they imagine being together, even in the cloudy weather. They don't want to be misunderstood, and they just want to feel good, like they should. Overall, the song is about acknowledging one's true feelings towards someone they love, and the singer wants to be with the person they love and feel good about it.

There’s loads of good new artists about, they’re just hard to find as radio stations only play the hits. Try Stone Foundation, they’re a good new soul band.
Aldo listen to Gary Crowley’s show on BBC Radio London on Saturdays at 6 pm (BBC Sounds app). Gary plays all the good stuff from 80s and 90s with a good dollop of new artists. New stuff is hard to find but it’s out there!
@christopher1800
@@tomthomassony8607 Absolutely. Dan Auerbach (producer of this album) has brilliant stuff (with the Black Keys as well), John Mayer’s latest album ‘Sob Rock’ has that 80s vibe going, Michael Kiwanuka, or even more ‘modern sounding’ stuff like London Grammar, Agnes Obel, Birdy’s latest album ‘Young Heart’, Ane Brun - “How beauty holds the hands of sorrow”, Laura Mvula - “Pink noise” (very 80s again), Andrew Bird - “My finest work yet”….. need I continue? lol
