The band's drummer, Aaron Stern, recalls the few minutes preceding the blaze: "We were actually mid-argument about releasing new music on our own when the tire initially blew. After we watched the van burn up, we kind of took it as a sign to get our tails in the studio." You, Me, and Everyone We Know then quickly enlisted the services of producer Josh Cain (of Motion City Soundtrack) and made plans to begin recording in Minneapolis days after ending a tour with the city's own Sing It Loud. So, the band picked itself back up, made the trek to Minnesota, and began recording an EP they would aptly name, So Young, So Insane.
You, Me, and Everyone We Know continues to draw from similar influences on their latest effort, though the band doesn't deny growing a little over the last two years. "The core of this band is definitely still here," says guitarist Noel Milford. "I think no matter kind of feel a song has, you're definitely going to know it's us playing it."
Things are changing for You, Me, and Everyone We Know, with So Young, So Insane set to be released on November 18th, a full U.S. Tour in November and December, and an attitude that anything CAN and WILL happen. In keeping with the "unsigned and just fine" attitude they have come to adopt over the last 2 or so years, You, Me, and Everyone We Know has once again elected to give away their new EP, So Young, So Insane, digitally for a limited time. "The days of 'needing' a label are gone for us," says guitarist Rico Vigil. "If and when we sign, we will look back on this knowing it was the smartest decision we ever made for this band."

I rather listen to the harshest words
Was be abused at ten in the harsh pacific sun
There was a time when I was at your side
It was 3am and you were begging me to die
Another year was all it took for you to forget the best from it
I always carried you
And why are you still saying we wont when we already are(you keep on kicking me down, you keep on kicking me down))
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
I used to love what I used to love
Moving on was a chore I wasn't quite ready for
They used to say I was a cautious man,
Its been weeks since I looked both ways or gave a damn
There was a time when I was at your side
It was 3am and you were begging me to die
Another year was all it took for you to forget the best from it
I always carried you
So are you still saying I'm not when I already am( you keep on kicking me down)
And why are you still saying we wont when we already are(you keep on kicking me down, you keep on kicking me down))
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Was there something I said?
Cause there sure as hell will be now
Was there something I said
To make you doubt that I could get back up
Cause I can get back up
Yeah, I can get back up
Yeah, I can get back up
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
So are you still saying I'm not when I already am
Ain't it a shame to be so young and insane
The song "I Can Get Back Up Now" by You Me And Everyone We Know talks about the struggles of belongingness, abuse, moving on, and self-acceptance. In the first verse, the songwriter reflects on how they thought they would never be close with anyone but then found themselves in a close relationship with someone who hurt them. They also reveal that they would rather listen to harsh words than be abused again. The songwriter then mentions being abused at ten, hinting at a difficult childhood.
In the chorus, the songwriter questions the other person's incredulity about them being something they have already become. The other person is constantly putting them down and making them doubt themselves. The songwriter also comments on the difficulty of being young and insane.
In the second verse, the songwriter talks about their struggle to move on from what they used to love. They used to be cautious but are now reckless, crossing roads without looking both ways. The second part of the chorus is repeated in this verse, emphasizing the songwriter's frustration.
The bridge of the song talks about how the songwriter might have said something to make the other person doubt their ability to get back up, but they reassure themselves that they can.
Overall, "I Can Get Back Up Now" is a song about surviving past traumas, self-doubt and achieving self-acceptance.
