The band's drummer, Aaron Stern, recalls the few minutes preceding the blaze: "We were actually mid-argument about releasing new music on our own when the tire initially blew. After we watched the van burn up, we kind of took it as a sign to get our tails in the studio." You, Me, and Everyone We Know then quickly enlisted the services of producer Josh Cain (of Motion City Soundtrack) and made plans to begin recording in Minneapolis days after ending a tour with the city's own Sing It Loud. So, the band picked itself back up, made the trek to Minnesota, and began recording an EP they would aptly name, So Young, So Insane.
You, Me, and Everyone We Know continues to draw from similar influences on their latest effort, though the band doesn't deny growing a little over the last two years. "The core of this band is definitely still here," says guitarist Noel Milford. "I think no matter kind of feel a song has, you're definitely going to know it's us playing it."
Things are changing for You, Me, and Everyone We Know, with So Young, So Insane set to be released on November 18th, a full U.S. Tour in November and December, and an attitude that anything CAN and WILL happen. In keeping with the "unsigned and just fine" attitude they have come to adopt over the last 2 or so years, You, Me, and Everyone We Know has once again elected to give away their new EP, So Young, So Insane, digitally for a limited time. "The days of 'needing' a label are gone for us," says guitarist Rico Vigil. "If and when we sign, we will look back on this knowing it was the smartest decision we ever made for this band."

hair tossed and footing lost
there's just one thing he'll forget to mention
just keep it close
i think we're safe within the crowd
from watchful eyes that aim to keep me from my chances
if the truth is the virus infecting their highness
if the truth is the virus infecting their highness
its just loyalty
and it's down the stairs
hair tossed and footing lost
there's just one thing he'll forget to mention
they're taking sides as you find your ride
dry your tears, at least you'll leave with your pride
but as the press war goes
its always an old wound instead of the truth that ends up exposed
just keep it close
i think we're safe within the crowd
from watchful eyes that aim to keep me from my chances
if the truth is the virus infecting their highness
its just loyalty protecting royalty
if the truth is the virus infecting their highness
its just loyalty
and it's down the stairs
hair tossed and footing lost
there's just one thing he'll forget to mention
they're taking sides as you find your ride
dry your tears, at least you'll leave with your pride
but as the press war goes
its always an old wound instead of the truth that ends up exposed
you've got another thing coming, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMING HAHA
you've got another thing coming, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMING YEAH
you've got another thing coming, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMING HAHA
you've got another thing coming, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMING YEAH
and it's down the stairs
hair tossed and footing lost
there's just one thing he'll forget to mention
and it's down the stairs
hair tossed and footing lost
there's just one thing he'll forget to mention
they're taking sides as you find your ride
dry your tears, at least you'll leave with your pride

The song "The Press War" by You Me And Everyone We Know speaks about how the media and those in power try to control and manipulate the truth. The opening lines, "And it's down the stairs, hair tossed and footing lost, there's just one thing he'll forget to mention," suggests a sense of chaos and disorientation as people try to navigate through the power structures. The lines "just keep it close, I think we're safe within the crowd, from watchful eyes that aim to keep me from my chances" convey a feeling of vulnerability and fear from the scrutiny of those in power.
The chorus, "If the truth is the virus infecting their highness, it's just loyalty protecting royalty," suggests that those in power prioritize their loyalty to each other over the truth. The repeated line "you've got another thing coming" creates a sense of defiance against the oppressive forces at play. The final verse, "they're taking sides as you find your ride, dry your tears, at least you'll leave with your pride, but as the press war goes, it's always an old wound instead of the truth that ends up exposed" speaks to the idea that people have to choose sides in order to protect themselves from the consequences of speaking out, but ultimately, the truth always finds a way to come out.
Overall, "The Press War" is a powerful commentary on the manipulation and control of the media and those in power, and the importance of speaking out and seeking the truth.
