1. Montreal’s You and Me openly share their world as seen by the two founding members - and lovers in life - Shawn Donnelly and Sandra J.. Sometimes joined by bassist Danny Roy or Edmund Lam on classical guitar, they deliver their most intimate material to date. Through acoustic instrumentation and rich vocal harmonies, the desired simplicity of the songs tug at the heartstrings in an innocent yet profound way. Most noted among their influences are The Beatles, Elliott Smith, and Belle and Sebastian.
In the summer of 2007, the band introduced their first full length album, The Romantic and the Realist (independent), an entirely self-produced album that was launched in Montreal and was available in stores across Canada, and in Tokyo, Japan (care of Duotone Records). Since the release, the band has headed out to play shows and festivals in Quebec and Ontario and remain a local presence in their hometown. With the support of local radio and CBC radio 3 the music continues to reach new audiences.
September 2008 earned the band 250$ in Archambault merchandise when their song Head Noise Pollution won second place in a Bluetracks Demo competition. It was also chosen as the first track on the second CD for Québec Émergent 2007 (SOPREF, September 2007.)
You and Me performed at the 2008 Windsor International Fringe Festival this past summer, and are thrilled to be repeating their fringe experience, but this time in Toronto Ontario for two weeks in July ‘09.
2. Áine O'Dwyer's 2017 album Beast Diaries was released under the alias You and Me. It is a collection of organ compositions and field recordings. They were performed and recorded in 2016, and compiled in 2017 for a pipe organ tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The lyrics of You and Me’s song “Habits” describe a night of drunken seduction and the fleeting nature of the love that results from it. The singer brags about his ability to work a room and get what he wants with the help of alcohol. The subject of his desires is a woman who has fallen for his charms but he knows that it won’t last forever. His tone is almost disdainful of her, referring to her as “easy” and a “bed smell in this room”. Despite this, he admits that he would be willing to do anything, even walk through hell, just to make his mark on her and prove his worth.
It’s clear that the singer of the song is not a sympathetic figure. He takes advantage of others’ weaknesses and cares only about his own pleasure. The woman he seduces is a victim of his manipulation and he is aware of how fleeting their connection is. The lyrics of “Habits” serve as a warning against the dangers of giving into temptation and the consequences of mistreating others along the way.
