Their four track debut EP, ‘Mirrors’, has been produced by former SikTh members Dan Weller and Justin Hill (Enter Shikari, Haunts, Gallows), and covers a host of subjects, from party-induced-excess and temptation, to adolescent aspirations and dependency, and all this in little more than 16 minutes. However, it’s a brief blast of promise that should more than whet the appetite for what’s to come from the five-piece and serves as a ringing statement of intent.
A 12-track debut album 'All Our Kings Are Dead' was released on the 21st of July 2010, and was well-received by both critics and fans alike.
With former Johnny Truant drummer Paul Jackson (Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats, The Ghost Of A Thousand) handling artwork duties, and a forthcoming remix of ‘The Weight Of The World’ by Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins’ L’Amour La Morgue project, there’s a distinct British flavour to ‘Mirrors’.
“British music is so healthy right now, the scene here has been building for a long time,” explains singer Gustav Wood, “and to have people from some of the best bands, past and present, helping us out and digging our band is incredible.”
Having clocked up shows alongside the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, The Answer and We Are The Ocean already, and with a relentless touring schedule ahead of them including supporting All Time Low on their UK tour, it’s going to be near impossible to avoid Young Guns in 2011, and on the proof of 'All Our Kings Are Dead' and ‘Mirrors’, we wouldn’t advise even trying.
[1]On October 13th, Young Guns released their new song 'Learn My Lesson' after it was premiered on Zane Lowes Radio 1's show at 7.30pm.

He said "Son, make sure you live while you still can"
Said I can lie to the rules of war and I can swim the seas
He said, "Boy, oh you know not what you have"
Now I lay on my bed waiting
Those words resound in my head
Now I remember he told me
I had a conversation with a dying man
Till I pass it by, your love becomes an eye
The worst path to follow, swallowed by the sea
You said "so? enjoy it while you can"
Now I lay on my bed waiting
Those words resound in my head
Now I remember he told me
"You"ll see when everything ends"
Now I remember he told me
"You"ll see when everything ends"
(Everything ends)
(Everything ends)
(Everything ends)
I don"t think they"ll walk with us anymore
Now I lay on my bed waiting
Those words resound in my head
Now I remember he told me
"You"ll see where everything ends"
I had a conversation with a dying man
He said "Son, make sure you live while you still can"
The lyrics of Young Guns' song "Everything Ends" convey a powerful message about the fleeting nature of life and the importance of living every moment to the fullest. The song opens with the singer recounting a conversation he had with a dying man, who advises him to make the most of his time alive. The dying man emphasizes the unpredictability and fragility of life, telling the singer that he can defy the rules of war and swim the seas, but ultimately he doesn't know what he has until it is gone. The song closes with a poignant repetition of the words "everything ends," echoing the dying man's words and underscoring the message that every moment is precious.
The chorus of the song contains the lyrics "now I lay on my bed waiting, those words resound in my head," creating a sense of urgency and reflection in the singer. The juxtaposition of waiting and the resounding of words creates a sense of tension, as the singer is caught between the past and the present, contemplating the message he received from the dying man. The lyrics "till I pass it by, your love becomes an eye" suggests that the singer is considering the fleeting nature of love as well, and how important it is to seize the moment and enjoy it while it lasts.
Overall, "Everything Ends" is a powerful tribute to the unpredictability, beauty, and sadness of life, and a reminder to make the most of every moment.
