Their four track debut EP, ‘Mirrors’, has been produced by former SikTh members Dan Weller and Justin Hill (Enter Shikari, Haunts, Gallows), and covers a host of subjects, from party-induced-excess and temptation, to adolescent aspirations and dependency, and all this in little more than 16 minutes. However, it’s a brief blast of promise that should more than whet the appetite for what’s to come from the five-piece and serves as a ringing statement of intent.
A 12-track debut album 'All Our Kings Are Dead' was released on the 21st of July 2010, and was well-received by both critics and fans alike.
With former Johnny Truant drummer Paul Jackson (Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats, The Ghost Of A Thousand) handling artwork duties, and a forthcoming remix of ‘The Weight Of The World’ by Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins’ L’Amour La Morgue project, there’s a distinct British flavour to ‘Mirrors’.
“British music is so healthy right now, the scene here has been building for a long time,” explains singer Gustav Wood, “and to have people from some of the best bands, past and present, helping us out and digging our band is incredible.”
Having clocked up shows alongside the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, The Answer and We Are The Ocean already, and with a relentless touring schedule ahead of them including supporting All Time Low on their UK tour, it’s going to be near impossible to avoid Young Guns in 2011, and on the proof of 'All Our Kings Are Dead' and ‘Mirrors’, we wouldn’t advise even trying.
[1]On October 13th, Young Guns released their new song 'Learn My Lesson' after it was premiered on Zane Lowes Radio 1's show at 7.30pm.
Young Guns' new album 'Bones' is out in Feb!

And these rivers of broken glass
Everybody wants to believe there's something more to this
Yet to hear the word of a higher power
From the streets to the tallest tower
Haunted by the questions unanswered, my world begins to spin
Oh, and when it starts to light up
Oh, and sometimes that's enough
To free me from the undertow
This is where I belong
And all these city lights
Another endless night
Full of all possibilities
Raise your glass to eternity
I never felt so high
It's never been this right
And it's all about you and me
From tonight to infinity
It's easy to feel small when the world's so big
Like a puzzle piece that doesn't fit
Everybody's looking for something to show them how to live
Oh, and when it starts to light up
The darkest corners of my soul
Oh, no hell or high water
Can keep me from euphoria
This is where I belong
And all these city lights
Another endless night
Full of all possibilities
Raise your glass to eternity
I never felt so high
It's never been this right
And it's all about you and me
From tonight to infinity
Oh, it's you and me tonight to infinity
Oh, it's you and me tonight to infinity
This is where I belong
And all these city lights
Another endless night
Full of all possibilities
Raise your glass to eternity
I never felt so high
It's never been this right
And it's all about you and me
From tonight to infinity
The lyrics of Young Guns's song Infinity speaks to the feeling of being lost in a world that is so big and uncertain. The opening lines describe the singer standing on the edge, watching the world go by, and feeling haunted by the unanswered questions. The idea of a higher power is mentioned, but it is not clear whether it is a source of comfort or a reminder of the unknown. Despite the uncertainty, there is a glimmer of hope in the chorus as the singer finds a sense of belonging and possibility in the city lights and endless night. The repetition of "this is where I belong" and "from tonight to infinity" highlights the idea that the moment is all that matters, and the future is full of potential.
The second verse continues the theme of feeling small in a big world, but the tone shifts from uncertainty to euphoria. The imagery of the world lighting up and the singer finding light in their darkest corners suggests a sense of enlightenment and freedom. The mention of "you and me" adds a personal touch to the song, perhaps highlighting the importance of finding connection and belonging with others in an uncertain world. The final repetition of "this is where I belong" reinforces the idea that the singer has found their place in the world.
