The name "Younger Brother" is inspired by an indigenous Colombian tribe called The Kogi, for whom the band wrote their first song. The Kogi refer to themselves as "Elder Brothers" and the people of western civilisations as "Younger Brothers."
The debut album A Flock of Bleeps released on Posford's Twisted Records in 2003 has taken on cult status in the underground electronica scenes around the world. The duo has since then been drawing crowds in the thousands from London to Tokyo, New York to Australia.
Their second album, The Last Days Of Gravity was released in October 2007 on Twisted Records.
This album narrowly missed out on a mercury prize nomination in 2008 when it was voted 19th( the top 12 are nominated)
Since the release of The Last Days Of Gravity the band have been touring the world with a five piece band. At the moment it comprises Ru Campbell on vocals, Marc Brownstein on Bass, Tommy Hamilton on guitar and Joe Russo on Drums.
In November 2008 the full band convened at Assault and Battery studios in north London, UK, to commence recording of their third album. By recording with a full band Younger brother have propelled their music to a new level. The fruits of this recording session should be revealed by summer 2009 followed by extensive touring of the US and the world.

Magic Monkey Juice
Younger Brother Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh goody, let's pump ourselves full of magic monkey juice and take a trip to space land!
From Brasseye Episode 2 - Drugs
The lyrics of Magic Monkey Juice by Younger Brother are inspired by the second episode of the British television comedy series Brasseye. The song is composed of two separate passages, the first being the singer's excitement about having the house to themselves while people are away on holiday. The singer expresses a desire to relive the old days by turning up some loud rock music and engaging in some self-indulgent activities. It could be interpreted as a reference to the singer's past wilder days or a general desire to break free from the monotony of daily life.
The second passage is where the lyrics get interesting. The singer suggests that they should "pump themselves full of magic monkey juice" and "take a trip to space land." This phrase is a reference to the aforementioned episode of Brasseye, where the show's host parodies a sensationalist news segment on drug use by claiming that "magic monkey juice" is a made-up drug resulting in absurd psychedelic experiences. The singer's use of the phrase indicates either an interest in experimentation or the reckless disregard for their own well-being.

Xbox version of GTA3; one of the first missions; had this burnt onto the hard drive; bombing it around in some crappy car with this blaring pausing to get out and hurl grenades at target vehicles. I just remember getting back into the car and one of the explosions and resulting pileups timed with the first big drop and yeah... good times.
