Circles
Yours Truly Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On the curb outside
My memory's fading
Please pick me up
You're sting drives me crazy
Parked right out front
You're the only one I want
My heads in the clouds
When you walked in the room
Scared me to death
I can't leave you to soon
Lying in my bed
It's all in my head
I don't want to know
So please don't tell me
Make it easy on yourself
I saw this coming from a
Mile away
You said what you said
And it's all been the same
I've got nothing left to say
It's been way too long
I'll stay here waiting
Your notes in my bag
You can't keep on leaving
It's just an idea
You don't know how I feel
Driving in circles
chasing some dream
Can't never trust myself
Only believe what I've seen
I don't know whats wrong
It's been way to long
I don't want to know
So please don't tell me
Make it easy on yourself
I saw this coming from a
Mile away
You said what you said

And it's all been the same
I've got nothing left to say

Overall Meaning

The song "Circles" by Yours Truly is about the emotional turmoil of a failing relationship. The lyrics describe the singer's confusion, fear, and desperation as they struggle to come to terms with the fact that their partner is leaving them. The song opens with the singer outside, their memory fading, and they ask their partner to come and take them away because the pain of being left behind is driving them crazy. The singer is parked out front and sees their partner as the only one they want. When the partner walks in, the singer is scared and wants them to leave immediately. The uncertainty of the situation causes the singer to retreat into their own head and avoid any new information about the breakup. They don't want to know why their partner is leaving and instead take refuge in ignorance.

The chorus of the song is a plea for the partner to make it easy on themselves and not tell the singer why they are leaving. The singer says they saw the breakup coming from a mile away and the partner's words have been the same, leaving the singer with nothing left to say. The bridge of the song shifts to the singer's perspective, driving in circles, and chasing an unattainable dream. They acknowledge their lack of self-trust and can only believe what they have seen, indicating their fear of the unknown. The song ends with the singer still wanting to avoid the truth and asking the partner not to tell them anything.

Overall, the song is a saddening representation of the emotional turmoil that a person goes through when their partner leaves them. The singer is dealing with fear, confusion, and desperation and would rather retreat into ignorance than face the reality of being alone.

@Paul Seaman Fire in the dumpster keeps me warm like a hobo eating beans this song does bring warmth to my heart. I hope it does the same for you. My mind is the dumpster and her words are the spark. Burning garbage is bad tho. Maybe the circles of your dog chasing his tail distracted you from hearing these artist express themselves. Letting go is something we cant explain but needs to happen. Let go of the dumpster and come inside Paul Seaman. Ill cook you a smore doooo it!

@rebelkillswitch

@Paul Seaman A dumpster fire still has more potential to grow then you do with that mindset

They sound like they walked straight out of the 2000's, I love it.

@SorchyMusic

Yeah probably because they are from Australia and we have really bad internet here so we are about 15 years behind the rest of the world lol.
