Youth Code Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm licking my wounds, bleeding them thin
Sick down to the skin
I'm licking my wounds paper thin
Sick down to my heart
I'm building you up just to tear you apart
I'm licking my wounds, bleeding them thin
Sick down to my heart
I'm building you up just to tear you apart
The song "Sick Skinned" by Youth Code is emotionally charged and deals with themes of pain, anger, and betrayal. The repeated phrase "sick down to the skin" creates a sense of physical and emotional discomfort. The use of the word "licking" suggests a desperate attempt to fix the wounds, but they remain fragile and vulnerable. It is as if the singer is determined to heal themselves, but they are unable to do so.
As the song progresses, the focus shifts to the heart. The line "I'm building you up just to tear you apart" suggests a sense of bitterness and resentment towards someone who has caused harm. The singer seems to be seeking revenge, wanting to hurt the other person as much as they have been hurt. The repetition of the phrase "sick down to my heart" highlights the emotional turmoil that this desire for revenge is causing.
Overall, "Sick Skinned" is a powerful song that speaks to the pain of betrayal and the aftermath of emotional trauma. The use of repetition and vivid imagery creates a sense of intensity and urgency that resonates with listeners.
