After I defeated Aldrich and watched the second cutscene the chapel door closed and black sludge or slime dripping from the ceiling to the floor, I said "No, no. I'm not ready. I'm not ready for another boss fight." Seen the dancer, and as soon as the fight began, I said "Nope! Nope! Hurry up! use the thing and get out of here!" I can hear those echo footsteps behind the pause menu. I used the item to head back to the previous bonfire, I seen the dancer was going to use one of her attacks but I got out of there in time with a couple seconds to spare. I did not want to lose all those souls.

I've beat this game countless times and have pretty much every boss's moves downloaded directly into my brain. I even beat nameless king with a broken hand, but dancer somehow still manages to be a wall on every playthrough this music is intimidating and gets in my head and makes me do worse every time.

I dont know if you know this but there is a good reason for it. there is the usual attack pattern in soul games that you can compare to a rhythm and the dancer apparently breaks it. There was a really interesting video about it which also makes a lot of sense because I and many peopel have a similar problem with the dancer when it comes to that

@@ericmiller929 the whole game has a musical rythm that coresponds to atack paterns of the boss most one have a 4/4 rythm but dancer and nameles have 3/4 thats why people strugle on them the patern is difrent mening if you play the whole game used to 4/4 your brain has a melt down trying to learn a new patern while using your expierience from the basic ones

@@ericmiller929huh, weirdly enough it’s the opposite for me. i’ve always heard about the rhythm and flow of dark souls bosses, and i associated that with dancer going into the fight. it really felt like a dance. most of the bosses that came before i could NOT get a flow down to save my life, but dancer was a breeze and gave me the feeling of flow. yhorm as well

Funny I have the same story but the nameless king is my wall that throws me off just by how aggressive he is, dancer once I see the animation start I’m able to dodge but also there’s something about how she fights that I’m able to tell. Like a hunch when certain keys are hit in the song

I always like to compare her's, Gwynevere's, and Rosaria's themes as you can see the obvious similarities in their themes since the Dancer and Rosaria are Gwyneveres daughters or descendants

@@Ronam0451 yeah just look up a video of them playing the dancer and Gwyneveres themes at the same time. The tune follows gwyneveres choir. And Rosaria cut boss music is very similar to the dancers theme in the same way. They are both connected to gwynevere as they are both either referred to as goddesses or daughters of the royal family, and they both produce gwyneveres miracles from their souls.

Definitely one of my favourite bosses in the game so far (it's my first playthrough, and I've defeated like 2/3 of the main game bosses).

Like Amelia and Logarius in Bloodborne, she was the boss that I've decided early on that I'll definitely fight on my own, making it a point-of-honour type of struggle. I vividly remember walking into the fight with her for the first few times and saying in awe every time I died: "Wow... That move...". Was torn between not being overleveled for her fight and preventing her from swiftly destroying me in the second phase. Torn to such an extent that, when I looted the Silver Knight armour set, then came to her and she kinda let me beat her up too easily, I stopped attacking her in the very last seconds of the fight and simply allowed her to kill me. I’ve had second thoughts about it initially, but now I'm really glad I've done this, because the fight in which I finally defeated her was much more beautiful and memorable. On top of all that, I think that her appearance and moveset are truly elegant, and her soundtrack is magnificent, giving me pleasant chills every time it starts playing.

All in all, I have to admit: as much as I'm in love with Sirris of the Sunless Realms, the Dancer makes some serious competition))

A lot of ds3s boss themes are 3/4, like Nameless king, Deacons of the deep, Midir and old demon king, but the time is used to create a really unnerving effect in dancer's theme

@@macmadness5932 at 1:00 and 3:40 , you can start to pick out the rhythm and count measures when you hear that first downbeat after the timestamps! it's very slow and subtle, and don't worry, even musical folks like you and me (violinist/singer for 10+ years here) can find it difficult! there's also pauses between some of the measures in those moments of dead silence where the conductor is holding out the rest for several moments longer than the single beat it usually would be on; this creates a dragging effect to the music - and while it's PERFECT and adds to the uncanny eeriness of this boss fight, it makes it hell for us to count the measures lmao!!

I personally first tried her in my first (and actual) playtrough (didn't knew her patterns so) with the greataxe, after beating Aldrich and with my friends speaking through chat, I had a lot of luck when it happened I was shocked, pretty sure she will f*ck me up in my next playthrough😅

My theory is that she is Gwynevere. She was long gone in the 1st part and the Gwynevere we saw was an illusion. It is implied in the 3rd part that the dancer was an aristocrat and somehow connected to royal family. I think that maybe the dancer is Gwynevere that gone hollow (pretty much like Gwyn) after all those years.
