My Final Remark
Yukka Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was the one who told you everything
About life
You turned away
You decided you could make it
On your own
Funny how
These decisions always seem to favour
Funny how
I'm the one who's always ending up
Alone
So this is my final remark
Life's no fairy tale
You can be all that you are
You can be what you will
Try to see the truth in this
So there you go
And everything's different since you read the papers
All day
You sit and laugh
You don't believe a single thing
I say or do
Then you ask me
Will it ever be the same as it was
Then
To tell the truth
I guess that's mainly up
To you
So this is my final remark
Life's no fairy tale
You can be all that you are
You can be what you will
Try to see the truth
It's mainly up to you
Don't you see the truth in this
Yukka's song "My Final Remark" is a heartfelt song about a relationship that has gone sour. The lyrics are from the perspective of the person who feels like they have lost touch with their loved one who had initially sought guidance and support from them. The first verse talks about how the singer used to be the one who told their partner everything about life, but their partner turned away and decided to make their own decisions. The singer notes how it's funny how the partner's decisions always seem to favor their own side, and funny how the singer always ends up alone. The second verse reveals how the partner doesn't take the singer seriously anymore, and doesn't believe anything they say or do. The partner has become jaded, and the singer's efforts to reconnect seem to fall on deaf ears. The chorus emphasizes that life is not a fairy tale, but that one can be all that they are and be what they want to be. The singer encourages their partner to see the truth, and to realize that the future of their relationship is mainly up to them. The song ends on a melancholy note, with the singer leaving the decision of whether to salvage the relationship up to their partner.
