1) Yunalis binti Mat Zara'ai (born 14 November 1986 in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia), professionally known as Yuna, is an acoustic/alternative/pop singer-songwriter originating from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is now based in Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles, US. She began making a mark for herself in the local independent scene in 2007, before releasing her demo in February 2008. Her debut EP, Yuna EP, was released in October 2008. Her debut album was finally released in July 2010, titled Decorate.
Yuna has been cementing herself in the local scene with complementary comparisons to the likes of Norah Jones and Rachael Yamagata. Her influences include Fiona Apple, Feist, Lykke Li, Sia, Bob Dylan and The Cardigans. Yuna describes her music as "a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay".
One of the first few people who expressed interest in her music was Farhan Fadzlishah aka Pa'an (Telephony Delivery), who later became her supporting guitarist. Along the way, Efry Arwis (Lightcraft) helped her with the bass while Adib handled the drums. Adil Ali (Seven Collar T-shirt) replaced Adib after the latter quit to concentrate on his drumming role in Oh Chentaku.
Yuna was eventually discovered in the US by the Indie-Pop record label and management company. They flew out to Malaysia to convince her to sign with them and then proceeded to get her a deal with Fader Label, a record label based in New York, in February 2011. She released her debut US EP, Decorate - EP, in the United States in March the same year. In February 2012, Yuna released her second Malaysian full-length album, Terukir Di Bintang. Her self-titled US full-length album, Yuna, was released on April 24, 2012.

I know that you've been de-motivated
Saying, "Sometimes things just don't go your way and people gonna say some things about you"
When you give everything, you give everything up for nothing
You'll find when you give everything, you give everything up for nothing
Just tell yourself that
I'm not gonna let you get the best of me today
All these people tryna bring out the worst in me
Come look at what you've created
I'm better than what you've been saying
Cause once I was like you, the struggles that I've been through
Cause once I was like you, yeah oh oh
I can see it now the world is changing people
Hiding faces behind screens
Throwing criticisms, you don't need all that
Just keep your head up high, keep walking
When you give everything, people hate to see that you're growing, you're growing
When you know everything, everything you've gone through is worth it
And you tell yourself that, yeah!
I'm not gonna let you get the best of me today
All these people tryna bring out the worst in me
Come look at what you've created
I'm better than what you've been saying
Cause once I was like you, the struggles that I went through
Cause once I was like you
Do it all just like you
Come and see what you've created
Come and see if you like it
Challenge me and I might take it
Take it, take it!
Yeah!
I'm not gonna let you get the best of me today
All these people tryna bring out the worst in me
Come look at what you've created
I'm better than what you've been saying
Cause once I was like you, the struggles that I went through
Cause once I was like you
The lyrics of Yuna's "Best of Me" express the idea of overcoming struggles and persevering in the face of adversity. The first stanza speaks to the idea that sometimes life can seem difficult and people can be critical, but it is important to stay motivated and maintain a positive attitude. The song encourages listeners to keep their head up high and keep moving forward despite any obstacle they may face.
In the second stanza, the lyrics touch on the issue of social media and the negative impact it can have on one's mental health, as people hide their faces behind screens and throw criticisms, but it's essential to remind oneself that everything we go through is worth it and all the hard work pay off. The chorus then reinforces the idea that you are better than what others portray you to be, and to continue growing and improving.
The bridge is an empowering call to action, encouraging listeners to challenge themselves and see what they are capable of achieving. The lyrics encourage the idea of not allowing others to bring you down and rather than finding strength through it all. The song ultimately communicates an inspiring and affirming message, encouraging listeners to find a way to stay motivated and overcome obstacles.
