1) Yunalis binti Mat Zara'ai (born 14 November 1986 in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia), professionally known as Yuna, is an acoustic/alternative/pop singer-songwriter originating from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is now based in Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles, US. She began making a mark for herself in the local independent scene in 2007, before releasing her demo in February 2008. Her debut EP, Yuna EP, was released in October 2008. Her debut album was finally released in July 2010, titled Decorate.
Yuna has been cementing herself in the local scene with complementary comparisons to the likes of Norah Jones and Rachael Yamagata. Her influences include Fiona Apple, Feist, Lykke Li, Sia, Bob Dylan and The Cardigans. Yuna describes her music as "a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay".
One of the first few people who expressed interest in her music was Farhan Fadzlishah aka Pa'an (Telephony Delivery), who later became her supporting guitarist. Along the way, Efry Arwis (Lightcraft) helped her with the bass while Adib handled the drums. Adil Ali (Seven Collar T-shirt) replaced Adib after the latter quit to concentrate on his drumming role in Oh Chentaku.
Yuna was eventually discovered in the US by the Indie-Pop record label and management company. They flew out to Malaysia to convince her to sign with them and then proceeded to get her a deal with Fader Label, a record label based in New York, in February 2011. She released her debut US EP, Decorate - EP, in the United States in March the same year. In February 2012, Yuna released her second Malaysian full-length album, Terukir Di Bintang. Her self-titled US full-length album, Yuna, was released on April 24, 2012.

SPARKLE
Yuna Lyrics

Make me smile always
I'm just really into
Having this chase
Kept my eyes open everytime
Falling for you is a crime
We let sparks go off
This time
I've been here before
Not long ago
With someone just as beautiful
Just as doubtful
I sure don't mind
Having you
This time
I see it in the steps you take
I hear it in the sounds you make
I'm just really into
Having a taste
Remind me how we got this far
Remind me how we fell apart
Oh I can't give you
That space in my heart
Oh oh
I've been here before
Not long ago
With someone just as beautiful
Just as doubtful
I sure don't mind
Having you
This time
And then we fall asleep.
I'm the one
Whos always in the way
But you got me
Hoping for more more more
I'm here to stay
As though I am always there
As though I had never left
Oh oh
I've been here before
Not long ago
With someone just as beautiful
Just as doubtful
I sure don't mind
Spendin time
I've been here before
Not long ago
With someone just as beautiful
Just as doubtful
I sure don't mind
I sure don't mind
I sure don't mind
Getting hurt again
The lyrics of Yuna's song Sparkle depict the complexity of a romantic relationship. It starts with a confession of mixed emotions, where the singer is drawn to the person, while also acknowledging the trouble and pain caused by that person. There's a sense of excitement in wanting to pursue this relationship despite the risk of getting hurt again. The line "you make me sick in a lot of ways, make me smile always" shows the contrasting feelings, suggesting that the person brings both negative and positive emotions to the singer. However, the chase is essential for the singer and keeps her engaged.
The verse "I see it in the steps you take, I hear it in the sounds you make, I'm just really into having a taste" implies how the singer is attracted to the actions and character of the person. The confident confession of "I'm here to stay, as though I am always there, as though I never left" depicts the bonding the singer has with the person. The chorus of the song acts as a reminder of past experiences but highlights the willingness to invest time again, even though the outcomes could be the same.
Overall, the singer admits the vulnerability that comes with relationships through the lyrics of Sparkle, where the past dictates the present, but a willingness to take a chance exists despite the consequences.
