In 1972, Yves Duteil had first minor hit with a song called "Virages" (English: "Turns"). Included on his 1974 debut album L'Écritoire, it shares fame with such songs as the title track and from his next album, "J'attends" (1976), "Tisserand", "Les Batignolles" (an area of Paris), etc.
His 1977 album "Tarentelle" which will become his most classic, including not only his most famous song ("Prendre Un Enfant") but also such songs as the title track, "Le Petit Pont de Bois", "Le Mur De La Prison D'En Face" which have all become classicss.
In 2001, Duteil released "Sans Attendre", more introspective than ever and with much modesty, he tackles some aspects of his life in a way that can bring a deep sight on life, understood in the light of spiritual love. In a simple way, he sings about friendship in tough times ("Les Gestes Délicats"), compassion for a father who never showed him that much affection, which never prevents Duteil to answer with love and sings all the kind words he found to his father, no matter what his childhood was like ("Lettre À Mon Père"). And probably the most touching song: "Pour Que Tu Ne Meures Pas", which deals with Yves Duteil's wife's disease.

Nos voix, nos rires et nos cњurs d'enfants
On pourrait mкme y laisser son cњur
On pourrait mкme y laisser son cњur
Si l'on n'y prend garde а la tombйe du jour
On pourrait mкme y trouver l'amour
Si l'on n'y prend garde а la tombйe du jour
On pourrait mкme y trouver l'amour
Nos voix, nos rires et nos cњurs d'enfants
On pourrait mкme y laisser son cњur
Si l'on n'y prend garde а la tombйe du jour
On pourrait mкme y trouver l'amour
On pourrait mкme y laisser son cњur
Si l'on n'y prend garde а la tombйe du jour
On pourrait mкme y trouver l'amour
The song La farandole by Yves Duteil is a nostalgic reflection on the nature of life, love, and happiness. The lyrics describe the memories of the singer, recalling the joyous and carefree days of his childhood. He remembers the farandoles, traditional French folk dances, and specifically the one associated with flying kites (cerf-volant). The farandole becomes a metaphor for life, which moves forward with the force of the wind, taking everything in its path.
The singer describes how, in a moment of joy and playfulness, one might be able to win the heart of a girl, who would join the dance and give away her heart. But life continues to move, and one must be careful not to lose oneself in the pursuit of happiness. The singer warns that if one becomes too caught up in the chase, they might lose their heart altogether.
As the festivities continue, the farandole becomes wild and frenzied, and the singer comments on the potential dangers of getting caught up in such a whirlwind. He urges listeners to take care and to be aware of the risks of losing oneself in the dance, but he also notes that the farandole can lead to unexpected discoveries and even love.
The metaphor of the farandole takes on additional meanings as the song progresses. It becomes a symbol of the singer’s own journey through life, as he encounters farandoles in the present that remind him of his past. He reflects on the unity of humanity in the dance, and he even imagines the farandole leading him around the world.
