She may be best known for originating the role of Mary Magdalene in the Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Her biggest success came in 1977 with her #1 hit from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, "If I Can't Have You" which was also written by the Bee Gees. The huge success of the latter song has resulted in Elliman being remembered as a disco artist, though this style of music was an exception to the medium-tempo ballads that she specialized in, and which comprised the bulk of her recordings.

Lyrics:
I've been living to see you
Dying to see you
But it shouldn't be like this
This was unexpected
What do I do now?
Could we start again, please?
I've been very hopeful, so far
Now, for the first time
I think we're going wrong
Hurry up and tell me
This is just a dream
Or could we start again, please?
I think you've made your point now
You've even gone a bit too far to get the message home
Before it gets too frightening
We ought to call a halt
So, could we start again, please?
I've been living to see you
Dying to see you
But it shouldn't be like this
This was unexpected
What do I do now?
Could we start again, please?
I think you've made your point now
You've even gone a bit too far to get the message home
Before it gets too frightening
We ought to call a halt
So, could we start again, please?
Could we start again, please?
Could we start again, please?
Could we start again, please?
Could we start again, please?

@hwesterhof2000
I watched this movie for the first time when i was 12 years old. I am not religious, but it still gives me goosebumps and tears to my eyes when i watch it again.
@basketballsteve54
In college but yes exactly so for me.
@basketballsteve54
@Solo traveler The movie that Billy Graham described as "blasphemy" should make me religious? (and he wasn't alone in decrying the movie as trash at the time). Okay, sure.....
@glenjakejacob41
@Steven Stanley Religion won't save you, as what these big organized religions claim...Do you think the thief that believed in JESUS was a member of any religious congregation at that time? He's a thief, an outcast...If I follow your idea, he wouldn't even deserve a glance from JESUS. But there and then, he was promised to be with HIM in paradise...so enough with that scoffing at people because you feel like you're so morally upright than the rest.
@basketballsteve54
@glen jake Jacob You don't follow my idea, i didn't express any ideas about what Jesus would or would do, or religion or what my beliefs regarding religion are in any way. I'm replying only to the idea expressed here that the movie should make me "religious" and how even the most powerful Christian leader at the time the move was released didn't believe that the movie would advance the spread of Christianity. That's all. You need to take a reading comprehension class.
