Z-RO was born Joseph Wayne McVey IV in Houston's South Park neighborhood on January 19, 1977.[5] At age six his mother died, and he was shuttled from household to household in search of stability, eventually settling in the Ridgemont area, a middle-class suburb in Missouri City in Southwest Houston.[5] When Z-Ro reached his late teens he was unemployed and resorted to drug dealing and hustling on the streets.[5] According to Z-Ro, listening to the music of 2Pac, Geto Boys, Street Military, K-Rino and Klondike Kat inspired him to work harder for his goal of leaving the streets.[5] Z-Ro discovered his talent of freestyle rapping and after going through a couple of recording studios to make a demo,[5] the CEO of a local label discovered and signed him.
Z-Ro released his critically acclaimed Rap-a-Lot debut titled The Life of Joseph W. McVey.[5][6] The record was a huge success and helped expand Z-Ro's and Bobby Craig's fan base beyond the South.[5] In 2005, Z-Ro released Let the Truth Be Told, which was well received.[5] Z-Ro's 2006 album I'm Still Livin' was released while he was imprisoned for drug possession, to positive reviews.[7][8] It was called "a great album... powerful" but "relentlessly bleak" by The Village Voice[7] and "one of the best rap albums to come out of Houston" by the Houston Chronicle.[9] In 2010 he released the album titled Heroin, which was followed by an album titled Meth in 2011 and then Angel Dust in 2012.
Z-Ro released his first EP under The Mo City Don titled Tripolar on August 25, 2013 via One Deep Ent.[2] Z-Ro then followed up with The Crown in June 2014.[10] In February 2015, Z-Ro released his first proper studio album in three years, titled Melting the Crown.
In 2016, Z-Ro released Drankin & Drivin in August[11] and Legendary in November under his label One Deep Entertainment.

Wreckshop, Wreckshop huh
Noke Deezy, D-Reezy
(Hook)
Weeeeeeeee-eeee-eeeeee
Came to Wreckshop, uh huh
Just to let you boys know that
Can't be stopped, uh huh
Just to let you boys know that
(D-Reck)
It's whatever whenever, wherever baby
You gotta have bread, if you want it all gravy
Country like jeah, but these cats can't fade me
Heard what I said, so don't try to play me
I came to Wreckshop, came to blow the spot
Like nitro I'm bout to blow, cause my flow hot
Since the days of P-A-T, I've been holding down the streets
Got a deal and got to eat, putting shoes on his feet
The Lex needs Spre's, let me defreeze
Music is to bleed, but the game getting sleeze
Why this broom in my hand, like I'm the sandman
Swooping...off the stage, snatching mics out they hand
Now it's my time, gots to put it down
Even if it's night, I can make the sun shine
In this game I'm making hits, the Shop is the...
We the lottery pick, ain't no stopping this
(Hook)
Weeeeeeeee-eeee-eeeeee

Every damn hood, every city, every block

Riding like Sensei, rolling on vientes
That's 20's, if you didn't know
My whole roll, sold with your...
Moving too fast, you need to slow down
City of Syrup, call it H-Town
What you lost, is what we found
Platinum songs, platinum bound
See I'm a platinum soul survivor
I'm a platinumlly, provider
I'm a platinum ghost rider
And I'ma always be a platinum street fighter
(Hook)
Weeeeeeeee-eeee-eeeeee

(Z-Ro)
We came to Wreckshop, until the Shop is wrecked
Surrounded by A-R 1-5's, and glocks and techs
It's Z-Reezy, D-Reezy and Noke Deezy
Sipping on something purple, blowing treezy believe me
Making it look easy, when I'm doing my thang
Whether Southwest red, or hoover blue in the game
Got our grind on, lying to fellas that's outta line
About to burn me the plex...chest with that iron
Feeling fine and lovely, even when it get ugly
I know I'ma make it, because the Lord is above me
Divine in the bench, and make me hard to hit
Hating me is like a habit, and it's hard to quit
I'll be chasing paper money, making maneuvers I'm mad with it
Acting like a fella, that ain't never had with it
I'm a soldier united for cash, worldwide
I do the body rock, and then I do the Southside

The lyrics of Z-Ro's song Wreckshop talk about the artist's confidence on his ability to destroy the opposition in the rap game. He proclaims that he, along with D-Reezy and Noke Deezy, is there to reign supreme and make his presence felt. He stresses the importance of having money and maintaining his street credibility. The singers of the song monopolize the music industry, and their journey towards fame has been marred by insurmountable challenges. Nonetheless, their determination and strong work ethic have aided their rise to the top. Z-Ro's lyrics are heavy on slang and regionalism, and the song's upbeat tempo and catchy hook make it a perfect fit for parties or gatherings.
