There upon drying out their lederhosen and woolen socks they ran into a Zach Hedges, who was strumming upon his guitar. To these wondering bards who themselves highly music were instantly awestruck and asked Mr. Hedges to joining their nomadic style of bardic tunes. Since that day they have released a demo and right their own style of bardic music where ever bardic music is listened to. I remember our HS prom of 1965 in FEATI, Philippines two local bands played this song and other zombies song like "I remember when I loved her". The Beatles became popular as early as 1962. In 1968 the music trend changed. Psychedelic groups like Doors, Santana, Jimi Hendrix and others like Vanilla Fudge became popular.FYI.

This song always brings back strong memories. I was 13 or 14 when it came out, living in small town Nova Scotia. Local stations played very little rock ‘n’ roll in those days, but at night a lot of American stations in the eastern US would come in relatively clearly. I often fell asleep with my transistor radio under the pillow, tuned to WABC, WPTR, WKBW, WMEX…whatever was coming in clearly that night. One night I woke up in the middle of the night and this song was playing, the first time I’d heard it. I couldn’t believe it - it seemed like the most amazing song ever, maybe even a message from God… :-))

Wow, that's something you could pick up WABC out of NYC in N.S., the 50,000-watt blowtorch. There is a great AM oldies station out of Toronto I can sometime pick up in the Adirondacks, when I'm up there

@@davidpeters4129 We lived right on the coast, 'only' about 1000km (600mi) of open ocean from NYC - not a lot for a 50 000 watt transmitter at night.
WKBW (Buffalo) and WPTR (Albany) were also pretty reliable though. One of the positive aspects of the AM radio band is its night-time signal reach. :-)

Classic record, I was sixteen when it came out and playing in my first band from school, I went on to play in the music scene in the late 60s and early 70s supporting all the big bands of the day, Family, T.Rex, Slade, Chicken Shack, Savoy Brown, Soft Machine, Spooky Tooth, Freddie King, Kevin Coyne, Sam apple Pie, etc etc, have been in bands with some top players but you never forget your influences..

Sure was a magical time for music, we all have our very special memories, nice to hear that you sang with your sister in the all girls band, my sister always wanted to sing on stage when she was young but was quite shy, but she never got that out of her system and later in life she joined a choir and performed at several shows and a big open air festival a few years ago, I went along and filmed it for her., Have a good day Jane.

This is one of those songs that just takes root in your brain and never goes away. I remember when it was a hit in 1964, and 51 years later, I sometimes find that I am singing it to myself as I walk down the street -- and I still know the lyrics. Oh yes, it is firmly implanted in my brain. I assume at some point, I will be lying in a nursing home, not quite sure who I am, unable to recognize visitors, but in some quiet moment, I will be singing this song to myself, and I will still be word perfect on the lyrics. It's a great song, but beware of it.

A band I was in opened a couple shows for the zombies and another group called the searchers in 1964 when they first did there first concert tour of the U.S., in between shows we all went to one of our bandmates home and we all had a swimming party and ate fried chicken from the colonel. they were very nice guys, a little wild then, but I guess we all were. Wonderful time.

The sound of the 60s, this is the music that was playing in the background while I grew up during that time. 5 years later I was 13yrs old and listening to all of them and smokin' some really awesome pot at some very cool black light parties. Who remembers those? I kinda miss them.....🙄✌

The Zombies just played in Portland with Brian Wilson Tuesday night this week. The first opportunity to see them live and they sounded just as good now as they did 50 years ago when this song came out. They were amazing!

This song is some of the best, if not the best Jazz that I've ever heard. The bass is so oily and funky, It just slinks around where ever it wants to. These cats knew what they were doing when they wrote this. This song should be heard way more often that it is right now.
