@Isaac Altman He couldn't.
Don't get me wrong he could have probably saved that family in another way. But that's not the point

The point is what Zod said. He said that he would never stop until he takes everything Clark has.

As in, even if that family was spared, Zod would keep going until he destroyed the entire planet. And no prison could hold him. And Clark didn't know about Kryptonite or have a phantom zone projector or anything like that to capture him

He only had two choices. Either kill him or let the whole planet be in mortal danger. So he chose well

And he has done that with Zod in the comics before

So, I just went back and ACTUALLY READ Miller's DKR, and guess what? BATMAN DOES NOT KILL ANYBODY. Even in those panels that Snyder talks about, it's not clear if the kidnapper is dead. BUT, later in those Point vs. Point panels, Lana Lang CONFIRMS that Batman didn't kill ANYBODY. Hell, it's a major plot point in the book.

Later on, in the last chapter when Batman is rallying the S.O.B.'s during the blackout he takes a shotgun away from one of them, breaks it and says,:

"This is the weapon of the enemy. We do not need it. We will not use it. Our weapons are QUIET--PRECISE. In time, I will teach you. Tonight, you will rely on YOUR FISTS and YOUR BRAINS."

That's from page 173 of my 10th anaversary copy of DKR. So, Snyder is full of crap when he says he's following Miller's version of Batman.

Miller's Batman doesn't kill either. Miller's Batman uses his fists and his brains.

I guess what galls me and a lot of other fans is that this Batman was billed as being closer to the comics, but he isn't, unless your reading different comics...

Snyder's Batman is not Batman. He's the punisher in a halloween costume.

@Cthulhu Crews when alfred starts talking about cruelty its not about the branding. Its because he starts talking about how things aren't the used to be. They're understanding of everything has changed, as he referenced Superman, and states that the feeling of powerlessness is what turns people cruel (refering to Bruce). Alfred wasn't just talking about the branding, he was talking about Batman as a whole, including the killing. And that powerlessness was brought on by him failing to save Robin.

The Martha thing, on my opinion, makes sense if you look at it in a different perspective. He's not thinking that he became Joe Chill, nor is he thinking that he's a monster by killing. He's realising they are alike, and that he's about to kill a good man, and leave his mother sonless.

He then proceeds to save Martha, because he in his mind, he's doing what he couldn't do for his own mother. But at this point he still kills.

When Superman sacrifices himself, he vows not to kill again in order to honor superman. Otherwise, its likely he would have kept killing.

As he Bruce states, they've always been criminals. The same way Gotham rolled with there being a masked vigilante beating criminals to a pulp, they accepted Batman's killing, because he's their Dark Knight.

His redemption is seen in Zack Snyder's JL. Even Alfred is surprised by his new found faith in humanity.

Trainwreck At 2100

But really this cannot happen again. Superman's arc was realized. Batman was on the verge. WW figured them out. Aqua Man, Cyborg, Flash, may have come to terms, but BvS was the completed arc of Superman.

He killed and has been killed for people, humans.

Was it worth it!? That is up to us to decide. That was a choice that HE made. Melodramatic or not. #WarSupes.

But I do not see how Snyder can duplicate this style of film making. Close to the Lynch of films, and close to the Kafka in script and close to Snyder himself with action scenes.

I need to shadow Snyder, as a big fan, to see how he thinks. Might be great.

Upvote? Maybe he will meet me.

That's literally something the Joker would say.
"I just wanted to blow that car up! It's not my fault those people were driving it at the time!".

Your missing the entire point of what he's saying

@Franz Styles That's exactly what I said. They wouldn't give that much money and effort in it if it was just for a marketing tool. There are cheaper marketing tools they could use

ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣ ΛΑΧΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ

@Franz Styles That would be true if it was fully complete and they just gave him permission to show it. But they invested big money to finish it. And they've been working with him to make it right since October. It seems like too much of a hustle for just a marketing tool.
HBOmax just provided an environment where it can be profitable. It wouldn't be profitable in theaters
Also every person that has worked with him says the best about him. Even people like Ray Porter who was cheated out of his role or Affleck who got the short end of the stick in this situation. That's saying something

ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣ ΛΑΧΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ

@Franz Styles They wouldn't bother releasing his movie if he was such a bad hire

"All I've ever wanted to do is kill him. A day doesn't go by when I don't think about subjecting him to every horrendous torture he's dealt out to others and then, end him. But if I do that. If I allow myself to go down into that place, I'll never come back."
