Autumn Changes
Zakk Wylde Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As I stand upon these shores of lies and deceit
The tides that turn against you
And the storms that one cannot see
Just like a storm that keeps on rolling
Forever rolling on
My autumn changes have come and gone
Like the falling leaves and the memory of what you've become
The cold wind blows upon your senseless fall from grace
Behind the mask of greed, I could not see your face
Just like a storm that keeps on rolling
Forever rolling on
My autumn changes have come and a gone
Like the falling leaves and the memory of what you've become

My autumn changes have come and gone
Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Zakk Wylde's song Autumn Changes offer a powerful commentary on the themes of betrayal, deception, and the consequences of one's actions. The opening lines of the song paint a vivid picture of the singer standing upon a shore of lies and deceit, watching as the tides turn against a person who has been untruthful and deceitful. The reference to the storm that one cannot see suggests that there are hidden forces at work, and that the singer is witnessing the aftermath of something that has already taken place.

The chorus of the song speaks to the idea of change: "Just like a storm that keeps on rolling / Forever rolling on / My autumn changes have come and gone / Like the falling leaves and the memory of what you've become." Here, the storm becomes a metaphor for life's challenges, which are constantly changing and evolving. The reference to autumn, a time of transition and transformation, suggests that whatever has happened has had a profound impact on the singer and those involved. The final repetition of "gone" emphasizes the finality of the changes that have taken place, and the fact that there is no turning back.

Overall, Zakk Wylde's Autumn Changes is a powerful and emotional song that explores themes of betrayal, transformation, and the consequences of one's actions. Through his vivid lyrics and powerful instrumentation, Wylde captures the complex emotions that come with watching someone you once trusted fall from grace.

on Lost Prayer

It's pretty obvious to me that the video to this song is about the corruption of this young boy. He falls into an evil trap of sex addiction and is controlled by demonic thoughts, represented by the red-masked demon. This lifestyle is unsatisfying and in the end he is chewed up and thrown away, so to speak, by those he used and who used him. He also deprived himself of real love from the girl/young woman/angel because of his inner demons and continued bad choices.
