Formada a comienzos de la década de 1980 por Pedro Romero y Javier Avellane… Read Full Bio ↴Formada a comienzos de la década de 1980 por Pedro Romero y Javier Avellaneda "Vieja" en las guitarras, Fernando Batoni en el bajo y Ernesto Rodríguez -sustituido al año siguiente por Félix Avellaneda "Pepe"- en la batería, con clara influencia del rock gótico británico (post punk y dark), en 1988 se une a la banda el guitarrista Álvaro Segura. Luego, Zapato 3 quedó constituido como trío, con Javier Avellaneda -quien se desempeñó también como vocalista-, Segura y Batoni. Al poco tiempo de conformarse el trío, Avellaneda abandona la agrupación siendo sustituido por Carlos Segura, después, en 1989 y ya más definido su estilo hacia el hard rock, se une de nuevo a la banda Diego Márquez, en 1993 se incorpora Jaime Verdaguer en los teclados y Márquez deja la agrupación siendo sustituido por Rafael Cadavieco quien sería el baterista de la agrupación hasta la grabación de Ecos Punzantes del Ayer, cuando deja la banda y es reemplazado por César Domínguez, quien estaría en la banda durate la presentación de este último álbum. En 1999 después de múltiples conflictos los hermanos Segura abandonan la agrupación y esto marca el final de la banda.

Zapato 3 pasó de ser una banda solo conocida en pequeños círculos de interés en la movida rock venezolana a uno de los principales íconos del rock de Venezuela de la década de 1990. Reconocida su influencia de grupos como Depeche Mode, U2, The Cure, Rolling Stones y bandas punk como Dead Kennedys, su presencia en el escenario les ganó un importante grupo de fanáticos en todo el país. Fue la primera banda venezolana en alcanzar los primeros lugares en las carteleras de radio del país con temas estrictamente de rock y sin sonido de influencia latina o pop. Paradójicamente su influencia es mejor entendida en la actualidad y temas como "Pantaletas Negras", "Amo las estrellas", "Uñas asesinas" y "Vampiro" se mantienen vigentes en las estaciones de radio. Zapato 3 fue junto con Sentimiento Muerto, las primeras bandas con seguidores constantes (groupies) en Venezuela.
