Comme une enfant
Tu vas me bercer
Dans mon lit blanc
Je n'aurai plus peur du toout
Quand tu auras chasser le grand méchant loup
Comme l'aurait
Fait ma maman.
Je vais me glisser
Tout contre toi
Comme un petit bébé
Et tu vas chanter d'une voix si douce
Que je t'écouterai en suçant mon pouce
Refrain.
Johnny chéri
J'ai fait de toi
Mon homme et mon papa
A la foi
Tu vas me porter
Quand il est tard
Et me consoler
De mes cauchemars
Je n'aurai plus peur de rien
Quand tu auras posé sur moi tes mains
Et effacé
Tous mes chagrins
Tu vas embrasser
Mon petit front
Mes jolis yeux fermés
Tu vas me serrer tout contre ton sein
Et sur la bouche me faire un dessin.
Refrain.
Je vais te bander les yeux
On va jouer à Colin-Maillard
Et inventer des jeux
Quand il fait noir
Faudra m'aimer de ton mieux
Et me raconter des histoires
Me protéger
Dès que viendra le soir
Oh oh oh
Tu vas me border
Comme une enfant
Tu vas me bercer
Dans mon lit blanc
Quand tu auras chassé le grand méchant loup.
Refrain (bis)
In "Johnny Chéri," Zaza Fournier sings about a relationship where she has surrendered her power and autonomy to her partner, who takes on both the roles of a lover and a parent. Fournier portrays herself as a child, vulnerable and in need of care, and her partner, Johnny, as a paternal figure who will take care of her every need. The lyrics suggest that Fournier has submitted herself to Johnny's care completely and is not afraid of anything when he is around. The line "Je n'aurai plus peur de tout quand tu auras chassé le grand méchant loup" translates to "I won't be scared of anything when you'll have chased away the big bad wolf", and it is a nod to the fact that Johnny is the protector she needs.
Through the lyrics, Fournier creates an image of a safe and warm environment, where she can be taken care of and protected from the world. She speaks of being carried, consoled, and embraced, all the while being lulled by Johnny's singing. Fournier's vocals are soft and soothing, complementing the lyrics' dreamlike quality. In essence, the song captures the feeling of finding comfort in another person's embrace, where you can let go of all fears and learn to trust someone else completely.
