Wodecki was born on May 6, 1950, in Kraków, Poland. He started to play the violin at the age of five. As a singer, he debuted in 1972 at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. He is mostly known for the songs Chałupy Welcome To, Lubię wracać tam, gdzie byłem, and Zacznij od Bacha, as well as the Polish versions of several soundtracks – Maya the Honey Bee, The Gummi Bears, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Movie. In the 1980s he performed in a cabaret with Zenon Laskowik (pl). He appeared as one of the judges on the Polish version of the Dancing with the Stars television show, Taniec z gwiazdami, during its first twelve seasons.
In 2014, Wodecki revealed that he had atrial fibrillation and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. On 8 May 2017, the artist suffered a massive stroke, a complication from bypass surgery he had at a private clinic, on 5 May 2017; and was taken to intensive care at Central Clinical Hospital of the MSWiA in Warsaw, where he died 13 days later, of complications from a stroke.

The lyrics of the song seem to be addressed to someone who is looking for the singer or someone important to them. The singer tells the person to look for a seashell on the seashore amongst the brown algae and green water. He tells the person that there will come a moment when they finally see him again, even though such moments are not common. He advises them to take the seashell and let the wind, which blows girls' hair, dry it. When the seashell is dry, they will hear him sing shyly that they will find him again, stop him, and fall in love with him.
Later, he tells them that they will take the seashell home with them to Kielce, Warsaw or Łódź where they will fall asleep in the shade of yellowing curtains and the shell will become dusty on an old chest of drawers. He predicts that the moment will come again when they will see him and take the seashell in their hands, as they did on the beach. The memory of the summer will disembogue in their consciousness as they dream shyly and fall in love with him once more.
The song seems to be about reminiscent love and the cyclical nature of love and memory. The seashell is a symbol of the past and memories that are preserved as when we hold a shell to our ear, we hear the distant echoes of the ocean. The singer also makes references to seasons – summer brings to mind sunshine and happiness, while winter brings darkness and sleep. Zbigniew Wodecki’s voice, melody, and arrangement create a powerful feeling of nostalgia and serenity and the lyrics of the song give the impression of a romantic, dreamy and intimate experience.
