Stay
Zedd Lyrics

Waiting for the time to pass you by
Hope the winds of change will change your mind
I could give a thousand reasons why
And I know you, and you've got to

Make it on your own, but we don't have to grow up
We can stay forever young
Living on my sofa, drinking rum and cola
Underneath the rising sun
I could give a thousand reasons why
But you're going, and you know that

All you have to do is stay a minute
Just take your time
The clock is ticking, so stay
All you have to do is wait a second
Your hands on mine
The clock is ticking, so stay

All you have to do is
All you have to do is stay

Won't admit what I already know
I've never been the best at letting go
I don't wanna spend the night alone
Guess I need you, and I need to

Make it on my own, but I don't wanna grow up
We can stay forever young
Living on my sofa, drinking rum and cola
Underneath the rising sun
I could give a million reasons why
But you're going, and you know that

All you have to do is stay a minute
Just take your time
The clock is ticking, so stay
All you have to do is wait a second
Your hands on mine
The clock is ticking, so stay

All you have to do is
All you have to do is stay

All you have to do is stay
So stay, yeah

All you have to do is stay a minute
Just take your time
The clock is ticking, so stay
All you have to do is wait a second
Your hands on mine
The clock is ticking, so stay
All you have to do is stay

But you're going, and you know that

[Chorus]
All you have to do is stay a minute
Just take your time

All you have to do is wait a second
Your hands on mine
The clock is ticking, so stay

I heard this song for the first time on the car radio when I was staying in Canada and from that moment I played it more than 500 times. Surprisingly, even more so given the simplest structure, text and harmonization it can be, it always sounds perfectly new to me because of its excellent quality of symbolic representation that somewhere deeply resonates with my mind.

The attachment to the life of innocence protected from the burden of truth.
The nostalgia from not being able to not suffer and stay in the comfort zone forever.
The longing for another person to whom we may project these wishful thinking and who should probably be going through the same process who would understand perfectly the anguish, to avoid to face with the truth.
And the self-realization of one’s finitude but having a hard time accepting the truth, tries desperately to grasp something to stand the agonizing moment.
“All you have to do is STAY” - brilliant, but holding on tight, the pain won’t go away.

In a somewhat unexpected way it mingles certain elements of trendy contemporary pop songs so well that it brightly expresses the line “life is suffering” although it doesn’t say any of it in the text. 🙏🏻 thank you artists

Damn, I internally cry because of the nostalgia, lyrics and instrumental. I wish we could have more beautiful songs like this, the songs that were released before 2019 were so good, I don't know what went wrong....

Tiesto the business is better then this

@duck that's kinda good, arguments are way shorter now, so instead of wasting time to make paragraphs of arguments you can just end it in a few words. But I agree on the TikTok part

2020s had a start to good music IMO Synthpop and Punk rock is back.

Psicopato

Songs like Hot Girl Bummer and Despacito were before 2019, and after 2019 we've had songs like Leave the Door Open, Scared to Live, Save Your Tears, Easy on Me and Good 4 U. And that's only talking about famous ones, stop complaining and learn where to look for good music
