Clarity
Zedd ft. Jessica Sanchez Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

High dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life
Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks 'til it breaks your glass and I drown in you again

'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends
It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense
Don't speak as I try to leave 'cause we both know what we'll choose
If you pull, then I'll push too deep and I'll fall right back to you

'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?
Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Zedd Ft. Foxes (Mr. Acapella)'s song Clarity describe the tumultuous and confusing nature of a relationship. The opening lines talk about diving into frozen waves, where the past and all its memories come back to life. The singer is fighting fear and selfish pain, but ultimately decides that the pain is worth it for the love they share. The lyrics also touch on the idea that the relationship is doomed to fail, as they both know how it will end. The clock ticking until it breaks the glass symbolizes the limited time they have before the relationship shatters.

The chorus repeats the question, "If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?" This line highlights the co-dependence and irrationality of love, even when it brings pain and hardship. The second verse describes the couple walking through a red parade, perhaps symbolizing the passion and danger in their relationship. They cut deep through the ground and ignore common sense, but eventually realize that they need to leave. However, they know that they will end up falling back into each other's arms despite the hurt and pain.

Overall, the song is a commentary on the complicated and often nonsensical nature of love. Despite the pain and uncertainty, people continue to chase after love and rely on it to bring clarity to their lives.

Melchor Alfelor "putting emotions to it". Ok that is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while.

Jessica overpowered the song. She hit the notes, but gave the song the completely wrong emotion.

Foxes did struggle with the high notes at the Letterman performance, but the vulnerability and breathy-ness (not a word, couldn't think of one) of her voice gave the correct emotion to the song, even if it was pitchy.

This is where Simon Cowell would pop-in his "Cruise ship singer" comment. Anyone can hit the notes or learn to, but emotion is just as important, if not more so; and that is something you can't be taught, you've got to be able to find it for each song almost instinctively.

So how about you suck back, reload, and get real.

PS: If you're fooled because a singer was enhanced via auto-tune, you're a fool yourself. Every single song you hear is enhanced. Stop being naive.

Melchor Alfelor Once again, more fun.

I guess I'll just continue from earlier, first of all take an English class. You're about as easy to understand as a 4 year old.

Results being rigged? Proof or lies. Oh that's right, you don't have any. Take a hike.

Also I don't get where you're coming from saying that she isn't talented. I never said that. I just said her voice is wrong for this song. And even that is a half truth, if anything her voice COULD BE fine for this song, if she sang it more breathy and less powerful. Power is a gift, but you gotta pick your spots. This song is 7/8 quiet and vulnerability and 1/8 power. She sang it 100% power.

Also I never claimed I know better than "music experts". However, both AGT and AI are publicly voted shows with the exclusion of the early stages so to really say this is proof of talent is a very shallow argument. If anything you expect be to believe that everyone in the US is a musical expert or can detect proper pitch, timbre, etc.... which I'm sure you know isn't correct.

Foxes won't pass the early parts of a singing competition? Yet she has a record deal given to her by industry verified MUSIC EXPERTS? I think you just shot yourself in the foot.

Oh and to clarify, I was comparing live version to live version. Foxes struggled at the David Letterman show, but to say one performance is indicative of one's talent is pretty inaccurate. People have off days, even the best singers have rough performances. She performed it in other places, where she did a lot better. Notes were hit, and emotion was conveyed. Now to reiterate, if Jessica did it again, and sang the song more softly and with more emotion, then my opinion would change. I'm open minded, unlike yourself.

I think it's pretty clear now that the only person being fooled here is yourself. Now go back to your third-world hovel or get schooled again.

Oh, P.S. if you call me a troll, you're a contradictory piece of shit. I was very civil with my earlier comments and you decided to flame me. Beseech you to take this as a lesson that if someone is civil be civil, but if you hit me, I'll hit you back.
