She is best known for her Christmas song "No Christmas for me", which became a YouTube success in 2007. Zee Avi on this song: “This song was inspired by everything i’ve experienced/read/watched/heard of from movies or stories, about one’s lover being far away for Christmas, be it serving in the army, college, another country, peace corps etc… In a way, it’s also about not losing hope. (…) The words in this one are simple and direct. (…) I stayed with the ‘silent movie feel’ as i think it suits the song.”

I think this is the way people should sing songs. You can hear that she's crying and getting emotional which makes the recording a hundred times better. It really just sets the mood and the tone for the piece that she is doing. Its sad and somber and nice to listen to.

+Rel. I heard she recorded the song in her bathroom, a capella, while being angry and quite depressed. Her producer found the track on her phone or something and he added the music (probably edited it a little). Anyways the result is quite moving.

2:01, she sniffles. I wouldn't sound 100% if I was crying either. She's very talented, as both a singer and songwriter (I know this is a cover), and obviously feels connected to this song. For those still not convinced about her singing, find a video for "Goodbye" by her. What an amazing, talented woman :)

She recorded it with "Garage Band" on her laptop. The Amnesty people, in charge of what goes on the album, told her not to touch her recording. They didn't want to mess with the pureness. This is raw emotion. Something that everyone wanted from her. So appreciate the fact that she said yes to a raw song.

You will always get the arrogant, music "moguls" commenting their hateful comments on videos like this, videos in which a pop artist covers a rock and roll song, as they can't accept the true meaning of music. Which is freedom of interpretation. I adore this cover, and I have fallen in love with the fact you can hear the raw emotion throughout her tearful voice, it's stunning. She made a beautiful cover of a song that had deep sentiment to her, let her be, it will not affect you or Bob Dylan.

You should hear her unreleased songs, they're more soulful and very few use autotune. Hungover, Goodbye, Heart Fall Out, Paper Airplane, and Sunday Morning are some of her better emotional songs.

@domydirtywork196 i hesitate to call kesha a part of the "decline" of music. she is a part of a shifting music culture. the older generation calling this the "decline" of music is no great surprise, this happens every new generation. similar things were said about the blues being the devil's music, elvis' dancing being immoral, etc. kesha may not be your style, but theres no reason to question the quality of her music. that said, bob dylan=best of all time

Most of her songs aren't about alcohol. Unfortunately, those are her best known songs. She sings about all kinds of subjects. She's got lots of emotional songs like Blind, Hungover, The Harold Song, Dancing with Tears in My Eyes, Wonderland, Past Lives, Last Goodbye, Wherever You Are, Old Flames cover, While You Were Sleeping, Feels Like Rain, Sunday Morning, Goodbye, Paper Airplane and on and on. She's also got a lot of feminist songs like Boots and Boys and self empowerment songs like Blow.
