“I’ve never really written a song like that.” It’s about falling for an alcoholic, she says. “It has this hopelessness, but at the same time there’s this light at the end of the tunnel, so there’s this sort of weird war. It’s kind of like love, but being in love with something you can’t have because something [else] already has it.

Love's not meant to be lost
You said that if I'm happy you're cured
But I'm not
I know you have a delicate fate
You're a quiet man but in the worst way
I'm not a follower and I won't follow you down
Oh Jameson, you've had your fun
Stop holding him, I wanna be the one
I promise you, I'll treat him right
Don't wanna fight, you don't need him like I do
I waited in the street outside
Sat in my car till my tears dried
I'm justifying people with pain
Tonight
I watched your fingers point at the blame
It's the darkest of grey when you explain
I'm not a follower and I won't follow you down
Oh Jameson, you've had your fun
Stop holding him, I wanna be the one
I promise you, I'll treat him right
Don't wanna fight, you don't need him like I do
I know I'll be okay
Don't tell me where or which way you go
Find someone else to take my place
You want me but treat me like you don't
Oh Jameson, you've had your fun
Stop holding him, I wanna be the one
I promise you, I'll treat him right
Don't wanna fight, you don't need him like I do
In the song Jameson by Zella Day, the lyrics center around a love triangle. The singer is in love with a man who is already in a relationship with another person, Jameson. The singer is frustrated with Jameson and feels that he is preventing her from having a chance with the man. She begins to feel that Jameson is keeping him hostage and vows to treat him better. She recognizes that Jameson can be controlling and that she won't follow him down the same path.
The lyrics "Words are meant to be taught, Love's not meant to be lost" refer to the idea that sometimes people don't say what they truly mean or act in a way that they really feel in order to keep things even or safe. The singer thinks that love shouldn't be this way, and that people should be honest and open with their feelings. The lyric "I'm justifying people with pain tonight" refers to the idea that some people feel that they have to hold onto their pain in order to keep themselves strong.
Overall, the song Jameson is about trying to navigate complicated relationships and learning to stand up for oneself. It's a cautionary tale about what can happen when people try to control others and their experiences.

Eu te prometo você, eu o tratarei bem

I love you Zella. Why? First of all, your songs tell a story, they're not just lyrics that don't mean anything. A lot of your songs, especially like this one, tell something about your life and I love when artists do that. Secondly, your voice is amazing. You're finally getting the fame you deserve, never forget your roots :) We all love you!
UPDATE 25/8/17: Wow it's been such a long time since I last looked at this comment. Watching this makes me feel so nostalgic because 2015 was such a good year. One thing that hasn't changed though is Zella's talent.

Her voice is perfect 😍😍

Rigo Hernandez Finally. A positive comment on Zella's increasing fame. People seem to become very possessive over their favorite artists, and begin to despise them when they find success. Why they wouldn't want their favorite artist to have a successful career is beyond me.

So the song is called 'Jameson,' which is obviously a name, so I just always assumed that she was addressing a person when she sang the words. Then I read somewhere that the song was actually about being in love with a self-destructive alcoholic and I remembered that Jameson is also a type of whiskey and that's when it clicked. She's not addressing a person, she's addressing the alcohol taking this person away from her. It was already one of my favorite songs and it was always very touching to me, but when I realized the words meant something entirely different than what I originally thought, that just made the song that much more beautiful to me. You really have to listen to every word. It's also a really pretty video, I think. She's one of my favorite artists by far.
i don't know what to put here
It seems like she's addressing a person the way she's putting it but in reality it's got a really good meaning about alcoholism. :)

Either way, the cool thing about music is it can be interpreted multiple ways to bond with the listener's life. Its a really awesome thing music. It's like the universal language. Anyone can speak it.
