Born and raised in Oakland, California, Zendaya began her career as a child model and backup dancer. She made her television debut as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up (2010–2013) and starred as the titular character in the sitcom K.C. Undercover (2015–2018), for the channel. Her feature film debut came in 2017 with the superhero film Spider-Man: Homecoming, and she later starred in its sequels. Zendaya's role as Rue Bennett, a struggling drug-addicted teenager, in the HBO teen drama series Euphoria (2019–present) made her the youngest recipient of the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, which she won twice. Her film roles include the musical The Greatest Showman (2017), the romantic drama Malcolm & Marie (2021), and the science fiction epic Dune (2021).
In addition to her acting career, Zendaya has ventured into music. In 2011, she released the singles "Swag It Out" and "Watch Me", the latter a collaboration with Bella Thorne. She signed with Hollywood Records in 2012. Her eponymous debut studio album, Zendaya (2013), was released to moderate success. The album's lead single, "Replay", reached the top 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Zendaya's biggest commercial success as a musician came with her Zac Efron collaboration, "Rewrite the Stars", from The Greatest Showman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) in 2017. The single reached within the top 20 of several record charts and has received multi-platinum sales certifications globally.
Having already collaborated with Labrinth on the song "All for Us" for Euphoria's first season, in 2022 Zendaya co-wrote two songs ("I’m Tired (with Zendaya) - Bonus Track" and "Elliot's Song") for the second season, also performing as a vocalist on the former. Receiving continued acclaim for her performance as Rue, the second season of Euphoria earned her four Emmy nominations. Nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama for the second time, she became the youngest two-time nominee in Emmy history, while her nomination as an executive producer for Outstanding Drama Series made her the youngest woman ever nominated for producing. She received two nominations for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for her lyrical contributions to the show's soundtrack. In 2023, Zendaya won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama at the 80th Golden Globe Awards and received a Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination.
On April 22, 2023, during the second weekend of Coachella 2023, Zendaya joined Labrinth in a surprise performance of "All for Us" and "I'm Tired", which marked her return to the stage in 8 years. She was featured on the opening song "The Feels" of Labrinth's third album Ends & Begins.
Something New

I wanna try something, all night
Don't know your name, but I guess I really don't care
I probably should wait, but I wanna let you go there
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something
By the way you looking tonight
Only one thing comes to my mind
When the lights come on at two
I'll still be moving with you
Boy you're looking at nobody
Just my body
Don't know your name, but I guess I really don't care
I probably should wait, but I wanna let you go there
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something
Ah-ah (wanna try babe)
Ah (all night) ah ah babe
Oh I, oh I, oh I
Baby, oh I, oh I, oh I
Baby
Baby know what you doing tonight?
I see that look in your eyes
I feel the same, yeah yeah
Miss your lips girl when we kiss
Why don't we handle this?
Girl you know I need some affection
Don't know your name, but I guess I really don't care
I probably should wait, but I wanna let you go there
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something
Ah-ah I wanna try babe
Ah all night (ah-ah)
Ah babe
This ain't forever baby, just tonight
Just sit back and take my direction now
Don't know your name, but I guess I really don't care
I probably should wait, but I wanna let you go there
I wanna try something new, all night
I wanna try something new, all night , oh I
Oh, oh (babe, I wanna try baby)
I wanna try baby (ooh babe)
Oh (girl give me that new) oh oh
I wanna try baby (oh, oh oh oh)
Ooh babe
I like that new new boy I like that new (wanna try)
Give me that new-new boy, give me that new (wanna try)
I like that new new boy I like that new (wanna try)
Give me that new-new boy, give me that new (all night)
In this song, Zendaya expresses her desire for something new with someone she is yet to know. She is not only interested in having a fling in the moment, but also wants to go all night doing something new. Despite not knowing the person's name, she is not bothered by it and just wants to enjoy the moment. Zendaya acknowledges that she should wait before acting upon her desires, but she cannot resist the urge to try something new. As the night wears on and the lights go off, she still wants to be with this person and is not interested in anyone else. Zendaya suggests that this is not an eternal connection, but just a temporary moment.
The song has a catchy and upbeat rhythm that fits perfectly with Zendaya's youthful voice. The lyrics, while straightforward, convey her desires without being explicit. It presents a scenario that many people have found themselves in, where they just want to try something new with someone they have just met.
