Satellites
Zero 1 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And sometimes the stars are aligned
And give me a sign in the shape of her face
Chorus
Cause in this dark she shines a light
I'm wondering if she can feel me here tonight
Cause in her eyes I find my satellites
Wading in a sea of friends and my words remain unsaid
And brighter days nine steps away
If I can stay out of my head
Chorus
[guitar break]
Cause in her eyes I find my satellites
Chorus
Cause in her eyes I find my satellites
The lyrics to Zero 1's song "Satellites" describe a moment of waiting for something to pass, but also the recognition of a potential connection. The singer mentions how sometimes the stars align and a sign is given in the form of the face of someone who catches their attention. The chorus then emphasizes the brightness this person brings in the singer's life and how he wonders if she can feel his presence tonight. The use of satellites in the chorus gives the impression that she guides him in some way, perhaps as if she is the anchor stabilizing his orbit.
The second verse presents a contrast of being surrounded by acquaintances yet unable to express oneself. The brighter days seem within reach if he were to get out of his own head. As the chorus is repeated, the guitar break gives a chance for contemplation and reflection on this person. The final line of the song culminates in the idea that in her eyes, he finds his satellites, suggesting that he finds guidance and direction from her gaze.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of searching for stability and guidance, perhaps within the context of a romantic relationship. The mention of waiting for moments to pass and being trapped in one's head suggests a struggle with anxiety or uncertainty. The use of astronomical terms like "stars" and "satellites" further reinforces the idea of searching for a source of light and direction amidst the darkness.
