They began as studio engineers at Mickie Most's RAK recording studio in London, engineering music for British groups like the Pet Shop Boys, Young Disciples, and Robert Plant. In 1997 they were asked by a college friend, Nigel Godrich (who was busy producing 'OK Computer'), to remix Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls". They called the mix "the Zero 7 Mix" which stuck.
Warm Sound
Zero 7 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't feel you
Don't hear you speak
Maybe
Someone else will
Help you to see
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sound
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me
Fake feeler
I see through you
With my eyes closed
Warm sound
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sound
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me
They can't tell me
What they can't see
How it feels here
Just how it feels here
Just how it feels here
The lyrics to Zero 7's song Warm Sound seem to detail a struggle with faith and spirituality. The first stanza talks about a lack of connection or feeling with a higher power - 'Faith sealer, I don't feel you, don't hear you speak'. The second stanza then suggests that perhaps someone else will help to bridge that gap or provide some sort of understanding. However, the following two stanzas offer a more negative outlook. The 'fake feeler' mentioned in stanza three could refer to someone trying to counterfeit a sense of spirituality or faith. The singer sees past this charade with their eyes closed - indicating that they have an innate sense that can't be fooled. Finally, the song wraps up with the sentiment that 'they' (presumably people who don't understand) cannot tell us how it feels to be in that spiritual limbo - only the person experiencing it can truly feel what it's like.
Overall, the lyrics are incredibly poignant and relatable for anyone who has ever struggled with their relationship with faith or spirituality. The use of the 'warm sound' throughout the song is interesting as well. It seems to serve as a sort of coping mechanism or a way to distract from the struggle with religious belief - 'Warm sound, falling slowly, takes the time away from me, feeling no pain, taking the time away from me'. It's almost as if the 'warm sound' represents a form of self-care or mindfulness in the midst of confusion.

@mitch6160
My wife and I had just moved to England, in 2005. We were moved into our row house in a little village outside of Cambridge. My brother had messaged me and told me about this band. I was sitting in my bedroom on a cool spring morning and this was the first song of theirs I played. I instantly fell in love with this band.

For me it is the When it falls song, but yeah, generally the whole album has this soft hug feeling. A warm autumn evening.
