Weakness
Zeromancer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It breaks my heart
To see in silence
not getting attention
When cheerleaders cry
Astronauts die
Something you cant resist
I'm sick and tired of holding
Everyone at arms length
I'm sick and tired of lies
It's the weakness
That connects us
It's the strength that tears us apart
Our lust
Is a fading light
Adjust
To make things right
Don't you know you need to die
To survive
When cheerleaders cry
Astronauts die
I'm sick and tired of holding on to
This weakness
This weakness
That connects us
It's the strength that tears us apart
Sync yourself
It breaks my heart
I'm sick and tired of holding on to
Your weakness
Oh, Weakness
Oh, Weakness
It's the weakness
That connects us
(Oh, Weakness)
It's the strength that tears us apart
The lyrics to Zeromancer's song "Weakness" delve into the complex emotions of connection and isolation. The singer is heartbroken to see someone they care for not getting the attention they deserve, and they express frustration with the superficiality of society's values. The chorus describes the paradoxical nature of weakness - it both connects and tears us apart. The singer is tired of holding everyone at arm's length and of participating in a web of lies. They call for a reckoning, a death to the old ways of thinking, in order to move forward and make things right.
The song seems to be commenting on the ways in which we are all connected by our struggles and vulnerabilities, yet these same weaknesses can create divisions between us. The lines "When cheerleaders cry / Astronauts die" highlight the fact that nobody is immune to pain or suffering, no matter how strong or successful they may seem. The repeated refrain of "Oh, Weakness" emphasizes the overwhelming power of this concept and the complexity of the emotions it evokes.
In terms of musical style, "Weakness" features electronic instrumentation and a driving beat. The vocals are sung in a slightly detached, introspective tone that emphasizes the melancholic themes of the lyrics.
