They formed the Melody Makers when they were teenagers in 1979, and recorded "Children Playing in the Streets" with their father. They went on to perform at their father's funeral in 1981.
The band's popularity was at its highest during 1988, prompting a major record deal with Virgin Records. Shortly thereafter, the group released "Conscious Party," their third album. On the album was the hit single "Tomorrow People," and the album went on to earn a well-deserved Grammy.

Mama I don't ever want to see you cry
If then they knew him they'd have passed right by
Oh, always remember you are the first of them
Oh, mama if they could see where we are coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong the other day
If they could see where you're coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong
Let stumbling blocks fall out of your way each and every day
Lord knows, Lord knows your reward shall be great
They were broken off through their lack of faith
But because of your faith you are still in place
Woah Mama, if they could see where you're coming from the other day
Then they would know just where you are coming from
If they could see where you are coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong
Mama don't cry, don't wanna see you crying
Ah my children, oh mama
Fret not for me
I know Jah will be there eternally
If they could see where we are coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong the other day
If they could see where we are coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong
Mama I don't ever want to see you cry ain't no lie
If then they knew him they would have passed right by
So many called but you were chosen, the very best
And so you will remain outspoken
Oh mama, if they could see where we are coming from the other day
Then they would know just where they belong the other day
If they could see where we are coming from the other day
Then they would know, then they would know, it's the other day
Yes they would know

This obviously not Ziggy's voice, but Stephen's ... As for the song, this is what it's all about, isn't it? Mama, mother ... Mother! It must have been hard for them all, with both parents so much in the public light, claimed, as it were, by the public ... the public forgetting just that! Thanks for sharing ... Jah Bless!
