Known for their live shows, the group has gained a worldwide following. With 'Living in a Magazine’ Zoot Woman established themselves on the music scene. Credited by many within the industry as one of the most important forerunners of electroclash.
Well-received by critics; NME rated the album 'Things Are What They Used To Be' 8/10 with Camilla Pia writing, “The electro-clash survivors are at their most impressive yet: combining rip-your-heart-out lyrics with instantly singable melodies and frosty synths, all tinged with the occasional flurry of string and disco riffs. This is a masterclass in modern electronic music, finessed by innovation and emotional depth.”
The Guardian’s Dave Simpson writing, “More Than Ever wraps undying love up in big keyboard stabs, Witness is an effective moody stomp, and Lonely By Your Side – a personal/existential crisis in a three-minute pop song – can hold its head up among their heroes.”

Take You Higher
Zoot Woman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now you want much more than I'm giving
And it's clear as day you don't like the way
You've been living
I can't ignore the call
And you want it all from me
And I wont question why
I just wanna take you higher
And we'll go higher
Wanna take you higher
And we'll go higher
You've seen it all before
Now you want much more than I'm giving
Wanna take you higher
Wanna take you higher
The lyrics to Zoot Woman's "Take You Higher" delve into the concept of not being enough for someone, which in turn makes them crave something more. The opening line "You've seen it all before" emphasizes that the person has become jaded and disinterested in their current situation. The following line "Now you want much more than I'm giving" shows how the person desires something more fulfilling, but they feel that they are not receiving it. The line "And it's clear as day you don't like the way you've been living" depicts how the person is unhappy with their life and wants to improve it.
The hook of the song, "I just wanna take you higher and we'll go higher, wanna take you higher and we'll go higher" illustrates the singer's desire to elevate and improve the situation for their partner. However, the line "I can't ignore the call" symbolizes that the singer can't ignore their partner's need for something more. They know that their partner desires something more, and they can't deny them of that. Finally, the line "But I can't disguise the need" demonstrates the singer's willingness to fulfill their partner's desires.
Overall, "Take You Higher" is a song about the desire for something more, whether it is in a relationship or in life in general. The lyrics convey the message of being able to recognize when someone desires more and being willing to fulfill that need.
