Into a strange new world, into the after all your tears
Might find you've falling too far? Take another look, take another ride
Can't we make them leave their hate behind?

And I still believe in nothing will we ever see the shape of tomorrow
Into the empty storm, into the formless loss of hope, where we can forget the game
And I still believe in nothing will we ever see the shape of tomorrow
Nothing is sacred when no one is saved. Nothings forever so count your days
Nothing is final and no one is real. Pray for tomorrow and find your empty still

Nothing is sacred when no one is saved. Nothing is forever so count your days
Nothing is final and no one is real. Pray for tomorrow and find you're empty
Nothing is scared when no one is saved. Nothings forever so count your days nothing...

(Repeat)

Overall Meaning

The opening line of "Into a strange new world, into the after all your tears" sets the tone for a song about hope and transformation. The singer encourages the listener to take another look, to see the world in a different way and to take another ride towards a more positive future. The next line "Might find you've fallen too far?" suggests that the listener may feel as though they have lost their way and are in despair. However, the song encourages them to have faith and to believe that they can leave their hate behind.

The chorus of the song repeats the line "And I still believe in nothing will we ever see the shape of tomorrow." This could be interpreted as a comment on the uncertainty of the future and the struggle to find meaning in life. However, the singer encourages the listener to push past this uncertainty and to continue believing in the potential for a better tomorrow. The lines "Nothing is sacred when no one is saved. Nothing's forever so count your days" suggest that life is short and that we should make the most of it while we can. The final lines "Pray for tomorrow and find you're empty. Nothing is scared when no one is saved. Nothings forever so count your days nothing..." reinforce the song's message of hope, urging listeners to keep the faith even in trying times.

@Bobbybrine that’s a misinformation that Agness Kaku spread and was further spread by people
Like steak bentley in his mgs video.
I can speak Japanese and tell you there is no real difference in the Japanese version of mgs2 and the English version.
It is true though that Agness was not credited in Mgs2’s credits but that’s mainly because of Konami and how
They gave credit to developers and translators back in the day.
It’s also important to understand what type of person Agness is she’s mainly a translator of Russian novels
Which are known for they’re sophisticated plots.
Experimental media like Evangelion serial experiments lain and this game don’t appeal to her.
Agness hated the story of this game Jeremy Blaustein the translator of mgs1 mentioned in a 2006 interview
He met with Agness and she was hated mgs.
Don’t believe everything you hear on the internet
I find it ironic that Kojima who made a game about human consciousness and misinformation
Would have the most misinformation spread about him.
Fukushima didn’t write this conversation or any of the experimental scenes with dialogue in this game
He confirmed that in an interview saying he only wrote some scenes like the one were Snake talks about getting into a locker with Otakon.
So yeah Kojima did do a lot for this game
Do your research next time.

@Luis Garza Confirmation bias is what defines a lot of people's ways of life. Any notion of truth that I point out that others disagree with is just "Things taken out of context." Any truth that you put out that I disagree with is "Social media engineering."

I came on here half a decade ago acting like it's all "So True" because it seems to be that this generic narrative line from a videogame really applied well to the modern culture war, even though this culture war has been something that's been going on long before the internet has ever existed.

This "Half Truth" BS about how people only think about things regarding how true it might be for themselves is something that isn't dependent on the internet, and never has been; it has to do with censorship and the limitation of discussion. Kojima made the entire plot as analytical of social discourse as possible, while simultaneously as generic; you can apply this conversation to literally anything you want and it will be just as relevant. You could apply it onto a debate about trains or socks and it would be just as functional as if you were using it on politics.

If discussion wasn't becoming increasingly harder to have regarding the topics I'd introduced above five years ago, I imagine it'd be a different story altogether. It's an old topic, more than a century years old now; It's just that it's grown into this, and it'll keep growing.

People's unwillingness to approach discussion without emotion getting involved is generally the problem, as even when the censorship doesn't cover the discussion, people can't keep themselves held together and will descend into tirades, assumptions, logical leaps and other bad arguments simply because it "Feels Right" to hold the stance that they do.

I love how the AI says it was created similar to humans, and is close to them, but insists they are not the same. My favorite has to be this tid bit;

"Every time something goes wrong, you turn around and place the blame on someone else; 'it's not my fault, it's not your fault'. In denial, you simply resort to looking for another, more convenient truth, in order to make yourself feel better."

They say that this attitude, one of rejecting reality, one of replacing fact with truth, and refuting responsibility is the reason they need us as guardians. This however is soon followed by, "we're not the ones smothering the world...you are."

The. Exact. Same. Thing. The AI rejects it ever could be wrong. It replaces fact with its self made truth. The AI's plan is nothing new, countless have tried it through out history, and tons in the world of Metal Gear attempt it as well. It is another form of conquest and dictatorship, one doomed to fail as every other one does. The AI has read through history and ignored it. Instead it learned the process of literally making history and realized through that process and the internet, it would be easy to control the world and make peace. It would be convenient. So it labeled that as the truth to build its ideas around. The AI builds up the internet, causes people to rely on it. Only once so much is tied to it does it tighten its grip. But it never let's go. Never allows freedom or growth outside of its fist. That is why it fails. Because eventually its hand could not hold everything.

But how does it all end then? How is peace made? One man, behind the scenes, builds the world on war, gets it reliant on it. Then he removes it, he sets everyone back to square one. But he lets go. He doesn't remove choice and set humanity on a path. He just knocks it down, and let's it pick itself back up again. His name is Big Boss. Yes, the AI is right when it says one man can destroy the world. But one can save it as well.

This game was not just a video game made for fun, it truly was a warning.

and it becomes more true every year
2022 "Everyone withdraws into their own small gated community, afraid of a larger forum. They stay inside their little ponds, leaking whatever "truth" suits them into the growing cesspool of society at large."

@Rooroo92 My God! Will you ever leave Goodwin's law out of equation. How many holocaust museums should we build? Answer from your tone: "Not enough!"

It was made in 2001, if he noticed it in 2001, it means it is already running. It was not on the future, it is like when Orwell wrote 1984, but in fact, he it was an euphemism to 1948 in England.

Kojima is Japanese, he grew under American Occupation, he knows very well how it works and now he is working from the inside. He is "there".

You're pretty good

It didn't make much sense to me at the time but it became very true with the advent of social media and echo chambers radicalizing people on both sides and tearing society apart.

Rooroo92

@XenoGuru Very well put and I completely agree. After all that quote from Hitler sums it up perfectly “those who control the children control the future” and I’ve encountered lots of people like that who are in complete denial and disbelief about a lot of the stuff that’s going on and the real reasons as to why.

I'm very grateful for this game, it was the catalyst that caused me to open my mind and change my way of thinking from a young age (14). It's the reason why I immediately started questioning everything I was being taught in school and what I was consuming on TV. I used to ask myself is it possible something like this could be happening in real life? There's no way the creator could come up with all of this without some kind of real life inspiration. I used to wonder what if there is an organization life the patriots in real life. Turns out there are many secret organizations that dictate the direction of our world and control what we should think and feel. And now that AI and algorithms are only getting more and more sophisticated every year. This codec conversation is even more disturbing than it was when I first played this game, so many years ago. This is most the most educational video game anyone can play, even to this day. Everyone should play 1-4, it should be mandated in schools for students to play and complete these games.

Thank you Hideo Kojima!!!!

@▸ GMAV3RICK℠ it did tho? The fact that people in America and probably the rest of the world only listen to their own beliefs spread their own information like facts and try and sensor others through the idea of “political correctness” trying to control people by telling them their beliefs are outdated and that they need to conform. Staying in their echo chambers spewing “facts” and refusing to admit fault to anything and only blaming others and attacking others is completely true and visible. Just open Twitter and this entire videos point is proven. Go outside. Most people had a set of beliefs that aren’t facts and believe mostly what they’ve been told through the news or other sources. This one call made 21 years ago perfectly encapsulates society now. How people only believe their truths and don’t want to acknowledge the real truths.
