The duo met in 2005 when Brennan moved to Denver, Colorado from Melbourne, Australia. Their passion for music and creativity fueled their early music experimentation into different music genres.
From the beginnings of Brennan and Sean’s music experimentation in “The Shed,” to their involvement in the music outreach charity, 1LiquidHouse, to nighttime jam sessions with friends, and taking time to explore their individual music interests, their music style and talent has continued to grow and evolve.
“We have found that music gives us the ability to capture a specific moment in time, the emotions that we feel as we feel them, the lessons that we learn while we are learning them. We all have albums or songs that capture an emotion or event we experience in certain stages of our lives and when you hear that song years later, you feel all of those emotions flood through again. The goal in our music is to engage your emotions and take you for a ride."
The two have remained friends throughout the years and continued to explore their own musical interests. In 2008, Sean moved to Los Angeles, California after to pursue his love of music full time while attending the Musicians Institute of Hollywood. The two eventually reunited in 2011 and collaborated on various projects before creating AMZY in 2013.
“As we developed into AMZY, we realized that staying in an exclusive genre doesn’t symbolize the freedom we have in finding our identity. Our music has an ever-evolving living breathing soul that finds life and inspiration in the stories surrounding us. AMZY is the outcome of a lot of experimentation between our styles,” says Brennan, “we always start on two sides of influence and work to build a bridge to something we like.”
Bassist, Nick Billings joined the band in early 2014 and drummer, Wes Barton joined the band in summer 2014.
The band has been busy in the studio working on their new album which is set to release this winter. The band chose to work with Joe Richmond who just got back from touring with band, American Authors. Joe Richmond is a fantastic producer and most known as the drummer for the band, Churchill. The album makes you want to dance and encompasses themes of hope and personal struggle that the band has experienced in their lives.
AMZY's first single "5 To Midnight" was released on November 23rd, 2014 and debuted on the radio, the same day. "5 To Midnight" is now available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Beats, Deezer, Rdio, YouTube Music Key, and Shazam.
“We wrote 5 To Midnight as a monument to the youthful mindset that we often abandon when we become adults,” said Sean and Brennan, “there’s always a happy ending in the back of your mind that allows you to enjoy your current place in life, but at some point the reality of the situation kicks in and you suddenly feel overwhelmed and unable to move."

In this conversation with our thumbs
And I finally found someone who doesn't
Mind a few emoticons
And I'm never putting down my phone
And the thought is running
Through my mind
On the other line
Its 3 am and I've got to go
But I can't leave this electric glow
I should have said this from the start
But oh my god you took the Words right out of my heart
(OOOH)
You took the Words took the Words right out of my heart
(OOOH)
You took the Words took the Words right out of my heart
I've Read our History a thousand times
And every litte word still feels alive
And I'm too excited to go to sleep
And I'm counting days until we meet
And I hope you're thinking the same thing
And the thought is running through my mind
Of your smile on the other line
Its 3 am and I've got to go
But I can't leave this electric glow
I should have said this from the start
But oh my god you took the Words right out of my heart

The song "Words" by Amzy is a heartfelt ballad about a budding romance that unfolds through text messages. The song describes the singer's excitement and anticipation as she connects with someone she has been messaging. The opening lines, "My heart is beating like a drum, in this conversation with our thumbs" convey her excitement and nervousness as she communicates with this person via her phone. She marvels at how this potential partner accepts her use of emoticons and the intimacy that develops between them through their digital exchanges. The chorus, "You took the words right out of my heart", suggests that the singer's potential partner is saying and doing all the right things, and that she is smitten with this person.
Towards the end of the song, the singer reflects on the nature of their communication and how it has affected her. She reveals that she has read their conversation numerous times because every word still feels alive to her. Despite the late hour, she is too excited to sleep, and counts down the days until they meet in person. In the final verse, she concludes that her connection with this person is so strong that she cannot bear to leave her phone, even though it's 3am and she should be sleeping.
Overall, the song "Words" conveys the power of digital communication to connect people on a deep emotional level. It speaks to the thrill of getting to know someone new through messaging, and how exciting it can be to build up to a first meeting.
