People in the UK can't afford to go out. The cost of living in the UK is astronomical like rents. People go to bars instead because you don't have to pay to get in, then round to friends then home.

Give me a nightclub any day. Used to be out three or four nights a week! Whether it was cheesey, trendy or whatever nothing beats a nightclub.

Unfortunately time marches on. Most of the factors of this major change have been covered but let’s face it, music and society have had the biggest changes of all. Hip Hop, Rap, and Techno have reached their peaks, and the MeToo culture has made things difficult for young men to enjoy themselves without fear of reprisal. What direction nightlife will go in is anyone’s guess right now.
