Story Of A Lonely Guy lyrics
blink-182 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Push it out, fake a smile
Avert disaster just in time
I need a drink, cause in a while
Worthless answers from friends of mine
It's dumb to ask, cool to ignore
Girls possess me but they're never mine
I made my entrance
Avoided hazards
Checked my engine I fell behind

I fell behind

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
And when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom
I get too scared to move cause I'm a fuckin' boy

Remember when I was in
The grocery store, now's my time
Lost the words, lost the nerve,
Lost the girl, left the line
I would wish upon a star
But that star, it doesn't shine
So read my book, with a boring ending
A short story of a lonely guy

Who fell behind

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
And when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom
I get too scared to move cause I'm a fuckin' boy

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
And when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom

I get too scared to move cause I'm still
Just a stupid, worthless boy

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Story of a Lonely Guy" suggests that the singer is going through a difficult time in his life. He is struggling to deal with the world around him and the people who inhabit it. He puts on a fake smile and pretends that everything is okay, but deep down he is struggling to find his place. He is lost, alone, and doesn't know how to relate to the people he interacts with on a daily basis. He seeks solace in alcohol and feels that his friends aren't giving him the answers he needs, or perhaps he doesn't even know what he needs.

The singer reminisces about a girl who had a profound effect on him. She made him feel things he never felt before and saw the world in a new light. However, the relationship fell apart, leaving him feeling torn up inside. He feels nervous, like he did on prom night, and is too scared to move or take a risk because he feels like a "fucking boy."

In the end, the singer realizes that his life is like a "boring ending" and a "short story of a lonely guy." He is struggling to find meaning in his life and connect with others. These lyrics illustrate the struggles many people face when trying to navigate the complexities of love, relationships, and personal growth.

There’s something this song reminds me
My crush always thinks he’s worthless and weird, whenever I try to talk to him, I usually get shy and nervous. He won’t believe I sincerely want to talk to him. He thinks I am pretending to like him so me and my friends can make fun of him. He once told me that it was impossible for me to want to have him around, because he thinks I’m popular and beautiful.
He’s actually a very cute guy, we do share a bunch of hobbies and we listen to the same bands I really want to get closer to him but he just won’t accept the fact that he’s actually not a loser.

lucky guy... at least he has someone that loves him

Erik Chingon

He probably thinks he doesn't deserve you, each case is different though but if you like him, it's a good start to build. Let him know how you feel, so you don't regret and I speak for anyone who feels the same vise versa.. Fuckboys can say what they want but there's something void some people can't fill..

Thales

Sorry to say this, but this guy does sound like a loser. You really should go for somebody else, for your own good. You can't fix him when he obviously doesn't want It
