Toast & Bananas
blink-182 Lyrics

My pants are off right now

Do you wanna know what I think of you?
'Cause you're not the way I thought you should be
Do take back what you said
It's time to fix, it's time to fix your head

And now all alone, one's less than two
I've never been better off living lonely
To listen to what you say
I couldn't care less of what you say

What did you think of me acting this way?
I guess you never really thought at all
Is that what you call your brain?
Is that why I call you hang up on me?

I wanted to know, I didn't want to lose
And now I'm a man who's just living small
Listen to what you say
I couldn't care less of what you say
To me as I walk alone I'd
Much rather be riding prone than
To be just another one you're lame to

I wanted to know, I didn't want to lose
But now I'm a man who's just living small
To listen to what you say
I couldn't care less of what you say
To me as I tune you out of my mind
Won't bend over backwards or take another step there to
Hear from you again
Don't talk to me as I walk alone, I'd
Much rather be riding prone than
To be just another one you're lame to

Don't talk to me as I tune you out of my mind
I won't bend over backwards or take another step there to
Hear from you again
Don't talk to me as I walk alone, I'd

Much rather be riding prone than
To be just another one you're lame to

Overall Meaning

In the song "Toast and Bananas" by Blink-182, the lyrics tell a story of a relationship gone sour. The singer is addressing their partner, expressing their disappointment in them for not living up to their expectations. The opening lines, "Do you wanna know what I think of you?/ 'Cause you're not the way I thought you should be" set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is frustrated with their partner for not being who they thought they were, and for saying hurtful things that need to be taken back.

As the song progresses, the singer expresses how much happier they are now that they're alone, rather than being in a toxic relationship. They're able to tune out their partner's negative words and thoughts, and instead focus on living their own life. The chorus, "Listen to what you say/ I couldn't care less of what you say" is a clear indication that the singer is no longer interested in hearing anything their partner has to say.

The lyrics, "Don't talk to me as I walk alone/ I much rather be riding prone, man/ To be just another one you are lame to" suggest that the singer has moved on and is no longer interested in communicating with their ex-partner. The use of the word "lame" to describe their former partner shows how little respect the singer has for them now. The song's overall message is one of self-empowerment and the importance of letting go of toxic people and relationships.
