Neben zahlreichen ClubKonzerten spielte die Band eine Reihe von Blues-, Rock-, und Jazz-Festivals / Specials, unter Anderem mit den folgenden Musikern/Bands:

Als definitiver Höhepunkt muss sicherlich das gemeinsame Konzert mit B.B. KING, vom 01.12.94 gewertet werden. B.B. KING zeigte sich beeindruckt und begeistert von dieser Band und lud sie nach dem Konzert in seine Garderobe ein.

"I´m no critic. I never would say this music is bad - this music is good. I listen to all kind of music. I listen to jazz of famous jazz musicians and it doesn´t move me. I listen to blues of famous players and it doesn´t moves me. But, yeah, this music does! This music realy moves me. You have a unusual sound, .... realy, a unusual sound. I love this kind of modern blues!
You can count on me, if you like you can use what I said in your papers - I mean what I say. What you are doing is very good. You have a good beat, good arrangements, good horns, good musicians - everybody, it´s well done, the harp is great - what you want more ?

Gentlemen, I'm really sorry that I only could listen to your music for a short time. But I tell you - what I heard was really excellent! Absolutely"

On the Road geht Bluesclubka heute nicht mehr. Seine Aktivitäten liegen heute mehr in der Zusammenarbeit mit angehenden Musikern und in Internet-Projekten, die sich mit Blues und Rock(Blues&Rock Guitar Styles) beschäftigen.

Er möchte einfach die oftmals vergessenen Wurzeln der heutigen populären Musik ins Gedächtnis zurückrufen. Dazu hat er auch das allboutGuitar Blues & Rock Radio,die allboutGuitar - Lessons,AllboutBues & Hot Stuff sowie einige andere Projekte (Social-Networks) ins Leben gerufen.

think of G as your centre, and then use scales associated with it: pent, minor, major, mixolydian, etc. Then also run chord tones for each chord: G (I), D (V),C (IV). Look at possible extentions (chord 1 is a G13, we also have D9 and C9). Ultimately, learn to recognize and work out the sound on your guitar first, then figure out the "theory" behind it afterward. It NEEDS to be ear first and mind second. Then write your own piece using the skills you learn from this: thats heart and soul.

It's refreshing to hear a newer artist playing the blues to people who might never have been exposed to such great muic. I listened to music many years before I was ever exposed to the blues,and now it's like air to me.We already have SRV,Hendrix,Clapton, BB,Freddie,and the rest of the older blues musicians;it's about time some new cats are pushing their way onto the stage with their own intrepretation,to breath some new life into a form of music that I'd love to hear more of.

@09088908 It's not always the complicated fills that make a drummer good. he plays awesome. He has a lot of dynamic in what he does. listen to gravitiy from john mayer with him playing. if he'd play more he'd destroy the song. he has a good understand of when you have to play less. and also he grooves as hell. His ghostnotes are very precise like his hole playing. it's not as easy as it sounds. this man is good.

@acousticelectricdude He said he's able to play in the trio because of his success in the pop genre. This stuff doesn't make it to the radio because radio stations don't play this music. I can appreciate almost all of his music, but the Trio is definitely where he shines as a musician

i think he should have put it on try or a seperate album with only blues, so if some people don't like the bluesy stuff, then they don't have to buy it, while they all miss out and we enjoy everything he makes

This is good, but you can tell they are still finding this song during this performance. John messes up the timing I think when he sings the first verses, but pino and steve account for it. total bb tribute here too!

I play a lovely patrick eggle los angeles, I bought it second hand quite cheap and its got such a variety of tone in it its amazing, I much prefer it to a strat because of its slimmer neck and sound variation, although it is quite a heavy guitar.

as far as his amps (in general and in this vid for the most part)..his signature two-rock head/cab, victoria bassman clone (probably the tweed combo amp on stage), fender super reverb, dumble overdrive special...in this clip if i had to guess, it sounds he's playing thru the dumble

@willwelsh816 Swing isn't necessarily a style of jazz, but a rhythm. The point I was trying to make was that it would be less accurate to say that this song is "jazzy" as opposed to BB King style blues. You're absolutely right in that jazz is a broad term and saying something is jazzy is even broader. Going by that alone I was just trying to make the point that there are better ways of classifying the sound.

@AnthemicPolemic Of anything in this song I would say the lead guitar part sounds more bluesy than anything else, just major (as opposed to minor). If you look at Jonafun's comment he explains it very well. Anyway this whole argument is based on semantics and I no longer care whether anyone calls it jazzy or not I just wanted to put it out there that calling this song "jazzy blues" is inaccurate and can be somewhat misleading, while calling it "B.B. King style blues" is on point

@09088908 Funny, i quite like him for being consistent and in the pocket. He is regarded as one of the better drummers. And if you listen to other tunes with the trio like "wait until tomorrow" the cover, he plays less straight drums :) give it a try

I was only speaking from my personal experience... I've played alot of Gibsons that I liked but the truth of the matter is if you find a good one, you better buy that one. I agreed there are good ones, but you have to REALLY shop. Read the comment I made! Glue-in neck and varying wood quality and density have alot to do with each one sounding different. This also makes for tuning problems in temp changes. I don't think LP's are to heavy or uncomftble.(had 2 been playing for 10 yrs)

it's just the blues, man. there's always going to be repeated patterns. yes, this may sound like "Buzz Me", but Buzz Me sounds like "Everyday I Have the Blues". it's all about paying homage.

Relax everyone. It's not an attempt to be jazzy. John has been heavily influenced by blues masters like Albert King, B.B. King, SRV, Jimmy, Eric Clapton, among others. So with each new song he writes it's an amalgamation of each person depending on the kind of song. This to me sounds closer to Albert King or even earlier.

Claptons best years are on a 335/LP. Hendrix used an SG/flying V occasionally, Buddy Guy was playing a guild starfire for years, B.B. King doesn't play a fender.

Should hardly be a problem since he has custom shop guitars with his specs and also uses his SRV Signature that has a larger neck and a 12 fingerboard radius.

It doesn't sound like a strat, it sounds like an es 335 with the treble and presence cranked. He probably tried to aim for more of a fendery tone, but it still sounds very much like a semi hollowbody to me

Thanks... I was just going on what I myself had experienced... Guess a guy gets cussed for being honest. I did mention the Les Paul GT I played was really good... I'm not biased, I just prefer one to the other for my particular style. ES335's are awesome by the way, as are Epi Casinos

to try and shed some light on the jizz-jazz blues issue this is a very BB King flavored song John uses a classic BB lick at the beginning and middle of his solo at 1:47 and 2:04 Listen to You Upset Me Baby by BB King and you'll hear the same sort of feel. The jazz feel comes from the swinging drums. While this was very popular for blues back in the day, its used much more in jazz these days. Besides blues and jazz came around the same time from the same foundations and are sometimes confused.

when you play on a rug, it's harder for stuff to be getting in the way. normally wires are run underneath it so you dont trip, but also, if the drummer really rocks out, the set would slide away from him w/o a carpet.

Bit of trivia, when Mayer is comping he's using a Charleston rhythm which is traditionally played in Jazz.

Some of you should listen to more blues and jazz, improv is all about feeling, shit take anything from Miles Davis and that guy was the king of fluff notes in which it would be completely out of key and he would just sit on it and ride it like it was the coolest note ever,,which then made it the coolest note ever lol.

nope, I like this version, but it feels less worn in and comfortable to me. I like the tone of the Guild in the LA version better than the Gibson too, though the set up may have a lot to do with it.

Dude, u have no idea what ur talking about. He has a whole collection line of Strats. His heroes are Clapton, SRV, Hendrix, BB, Buddy Guy : all Fenders. He only plays Gibson on a couple songs for a "warmer" sound

Gibson would be alot better if they weren't so "hit and miss"... I went to the Gibson Showcase store in Nashville and played a $10,000 Custom Shop 59 Re-issue (in 06). The thing sounded like a car bumper with strings. However I played a cheaper Les Paul GT's and it sounded amazing... Went back last year and they'd marked the custom down to $7,000. I'm a Strat man... You can pick one of them up and know it's going to sound good and play easy. The tone (to me) is so much more musical and soulful

It's definitely a Gibson ES 335. ES means Electric Spanish. A typical blues guitar with f-holes in the front body. The world's first commercial semi-hollowbody electric guitar, released by Gibson Guitar Corporation in 1958.

What is wrong with learning from the great pioneers of blues and bring it in a little own way???
