Adam and Ebon have an interesting dynamic. While they are brothers, they're like two sides of the same exact coin. Adam stands in the light, not covering what he looks like outside of his rubber suit, while Ebon is shrouded in darkness, a literal shadow. Adam is capable of changing, while Ebon refuses to change, preferring to keep things as they are. Adam loves his work, but doesn't like all the attention and adoration he gets while Ebon likes the fear and attention he gets, revels in his power.

The difference is Adam is a talented musician who has EARNED everything and on top of that changed from a villain to a superhero.

I think Adam and Ivan’s powers reflect their personalities quite well. Adam, despite being a villain in his earlier appearances, decides to bounce back and change his life around (somewhat becoming the long arm of the law). Ivan, on the other hand, has decided to embrace the dark side of humanity (survival of the fittest), using sinister methods to get what he wants.

When Ebon said "Stay outta my way. You owe me that much," I couldn't blame Adam for being mad.
He tried so hard to prove his loyalty to his brother, and his family, but every time he did he got in trouble and was left hanging, like he was expendable.
Coming from a toxic family myself, I can relate to that pain, and it hurts when you show loyalty and love to someone who treats you like dirt until they need you again.

This episode was amazing. It explained how Ivan had a rough life. Their father abandoned them when they were kids, so Ivan had to mature fast and start providing for his family but eventually got tired of earning little in exchange for a lot of effort and turned to a life of cryme. Then the big bang and the rest is history. His brother Ryan on the other hand, had too much talent for that.

The series as a whole was amazing. It had the correct balance of not only superhero themes but it tackled real life issues and never once did those issues feel fake. While I have seen other shows try to pull this off Static shock has to be one of the few that do it successfully.

Ebon has a lot of power, but limited nuances. Rubberband Man's powers are not as far reaching, but it is a lot more flexible with what it can do. It also serves the mindset as well since Ebon as a villain is grandiose and aggressive while RubberBand man tries to think outside the box.

Ebon is technically Milestone Comics, which is an imprint of DC Comics. The company was founded for the purpose of having more super heros/heroines of color, as there weren't very many, and the ones that were around were usually stereotyping. Although Milestone went under, DC still has to pay royalties every time they use Milestone characters. For this reason, Static appears inconsistently in the mainstream DC Comics universe. For the DCAU, the writers realized this wasn't an issue on how to properly merge the Dakotaverse into the greater DCAU.

What I love about this show is that it’s relatively clean compared to other superhero shows and it touches some serious issues like racism and gun violence without being too crude about it. I mean that one episode where some kid tries to shoot a bully ends with Static telling audiences to get away from people with guns. Then the Sons of Fathers episode addresses racism from Gear’s dad toward Virgil.
Plus, The Rubberband Man here addressed Dyslexia in one educational short with Static.
They don’t make decent shows like this anymore and they most likely never will.

Actually, in the episode “When Rubber Meets the Road”, it showed that Adam is dyslexic. I mean throughout the series we didn’t actually see Adam reading anything. Dyslexia has to do with reading words, so the idea of him writing fantastic music isn’t much of a stretch, no pun intended.

There's something deeply comical to me about the fact that in this show, Adam's rubber body and Ivan's darkness manipulation are sort of set up as two sides of the same coin, as they're brothers, their powers directly mirror each other despite seeming unconnected at first, and (if the series had not been cancelled) they would have have had the most direct and personal rivalry in the show, and likely would have had one of the last showdowns in the story.

And then overseas, in an entirely unrelated series, we see rubber and darkness displayed as two sides of the same coin once again, the powers mirror each other despite appearing disconnected at first glance, and the hero and villain have perhaps the most direct and personal rivalry in the story, and are implicitly being set up as the final showdown.

Actually Adam does care about his brother despite the two of them fighting. Also in the beginning while he fought against static he wasn't truly a bad guy. The first time around when he first met static he was after the person who screwed him over. While he made a mistake and continued to fight static he was the person who was wronged rather than the person who did the wronging like his older brother.

The same could be said of the other episodes as well.

the only thing similar about their powers is that they can both strength and become thin. Adam can't make portals or teleport himself like ebon can, and Ebon can't expand, or manipulate his body to the same extent as Adam can.

Great how Rubberband Man became a good guy shame no all Villain can change their ways it's never too late but I guess some just can't or won't change who they are. Rubberband man was never a villain to begin with. The first time we see him doing something bad was not because he was evil, but because some jackass ripped him off and he wanted what was rightfully his. Yes Static did have to stop him that time before he was never really doing anything with evil intent.

Later on he beef with static grew seeing as when he was making his music work for him Static blew his cover and he had to go into hiding unless Sharon was able to convince him to do his time so he could have a real future.

Hell most of the characters even the antagonists aren't truly villains if you think about it either.
