I so identify with Tamy's description of her relationship with food, how it became almost like a friend. And this happened because she was making decisions for herself before she was ready, and before she had an adult brain, but after she had suffered significant trauma which stunted her growth.

My Mom was very sick with a number of issues starting when I was four. This led to a role reversal. She died when I was 29, and my whole world fell apart. Things didn't have to go that way. We ate together, enabled each other. At my heaviest I was double the weight I was at age 16. Nothing like what Tamy's had to go through. I have had breathing problems, and my stomach touches my thighs. I am diabetic. I've had my gall bladder removed. All of this was avoidable. I equated going to the grocery store with freedom. I would decide (damnit!) what I put in my mouth.

The pandemic didn't help. And my depression and agoraphobia don't help. I started going for walks in the grocery store when it was the only thing open. I was too scared to go outside. Of course it put me right near those carbs...

Watching people on this show rationalize behavior that is killing them takes all of the fun out of overeating. It's like looking in the mirror. It no longer feels fun and rebellious. I never drank. Never did drugs. They made me feel out of control. But eating made me feel in control.

Somehow, I have lost my appetite, because, on some level I know, there, but for the grace of god go I.

I was thinking the same thing. When she got out of bed at the start of the video I was stunned at how "normal" her legs looked compared to her stomach. I'm 270lb myself and my legs look very similar. But my stomach is proportional to the fat on the rest of me. Very interesting to see. And I'm glad she's on the right path now!

I've seen morbidly obese ppl with "weeping" skin that's where the skin becomes so stretched that a clear to yellow fluid (sometimes a little blood) will just leak out of the pores cause if to much stretching... I am fat on my best day but nowhere near this watching this show helped me decide to lose weight and I'm already down 45 or so pounds

Her love for herself and her son came shining through. She wanted to live you know what i mean like really live life. I legit have the same issue she has. My stomach holds most of my fat. I have always been able to walk and work. But I have always had that stomach hanging. I changed my lifestyle back in March. I was 380 I’m now 347. Im going to keep going. Making sure I stick to this new lifestyle.

I liked her instantly. She has that will. She doesn't try and make excuses. She knows how she got to where she was, she took responsibility for it, decided to do something about it, acknowledged her mistakes during the process, but never gave up. She is my favorite person on the show.

You're right. The key word is "just" (only). I'm a foodie. I love tasting fun foods, and I am ideal weight. Most people that just simply like trying food are pretty average. I've noticed that people who are obese, or more, tend to have much more plain and "vanilla" preferences when it comes to what they intake. it's about the comfort associated with it more than the flavors, appearance and smell.

She's one of the few intelligent responsible and mature patients of Dr. Now. She makes no excuses, takes responsibility and has class and polish when she speaks. I know about the struggle as I've had BED all my life and struggle every day with it. It doesn't show on my right now, but the internal struggle is still the same. I admire how she was able to take the bull by the horns and lose the required amount to qualify for the surgery. Not everyone has the strength of character to do this, yours truly included

I'm always amazed when there is a girdle apron. Not every obese person has one, but the ones that do, you can tell it's a misery. I'm so glad that she realizes the trauma that bright her to this point. She is brave.

Hyperventilating can lead to that numbness she felt - it’s crazy. I’ve had this happen during a panic attack and my entire body starting to go numb and seize up. Even my face. Thought I was dying. It was nuts. To get up and go on with your day after that… This lady is tough as nails.
